Most of my A class cars are 5.7-6.0 handling cars. Handling is the best for consistency, however in hoppers it is almost necessary to have more power than a full handling build so you can get away from the pack on the straights and out of corners. As for the '17 Camaro, that is a great car with little handling (5.7). It accelerates and handles well. The top speed also allows it to pull for a while down the straights. Like I said, power is very helpful to get away from the pack. The Camaro does this great on tracks like Sebring.
I hate to be that guy but I’m gonna be that guy. I have always been in the top 10 of the world, specifically in A class.
This is not always easy to grasp but in life (and FM) there will ALWAYS be better people than you. You want a realistic assessment of the skill gap between you and the top players? Go download my tunes. I ALWAYS make them available for others to download so people like you can be on the same leveled playing field and realize the skill difference that really exist.
Sorry to sound like such a snob but I’ve practiced my butt off and taken A LOT of time to learn how to build/tune properly and take the optimal racing lines to become one of the best in the class that I like to race and take offense to people trying to brush it off like we are “using a magic formula” instead of realizing that maybe the culprit is the skill difference that other very fast respectable drivers have already mentioned on this very same post.
Below are a couple of videos of top times in the world in 2 different tracks with 2 different cars for reference both of which can be downloaded. Have a go!
There was one that someone posted on Reddit a long time ago. Prob. 6 months ago. Not sure what ever happened to it & I can’t remember the car. But there maybe/possibly/definitely & 825hp V8 swap glitch. It only worked on 1 car that the Redditor (spell check) posted. Not sure if it was just a specific car or car/drivetrain/division combination but you could take a certain muscle car, make it awd & swap a 825hp V8 it would obviously increase the rating of the car. But once you swapped it you could remove the Restrictor Plate & gain about 200 horsepower & not gain ANY PI. The reddit post & Youtube video showing it was deleted & never saw it again.
Something still doesn’t seem right with the V8 swap restrictor plates. If I throw a 825hp V8 in my 73’ Trans Am. It goes to 825hp & 523 PI. If I remove the plate I get 994hp & 538PI. Plus 169hp & only a 15 point PI increase? Most cars you add 169hp you would gain 70-80 PI remove a plate & only gain 15. I just added 169hp standard way & I gained 71 PI. The whole plate situation might need to be changed.
Because 169hp on a rev banging car with no handling isn’t going to make it much quicker.
PI is calculated by the AI driving an imaginary track that represents all the tracks in the game. This is why fringe cars (super light weight, super high hp, super grip cars) don’t always make sense when they are one trick ponies.
Actually it does. This type of exploit has been proven to be dominate for years now. Have you even hotlapped competivitely in all classes in other Forzas?
Logic doesn’t apply when these builds are found. They will dominate most tracks in the game since most tracks favor acceleration based builds. Only a handful of tracks need top end. For other tracks with long straights, the time lost from rev banging is made up over the rest of the track.
Your example about how PI is calculated is exactly why PI is always off. Top speed is weighted heavily but acceleration isn’t.
F2 was the stingray and f4 was the lotus, other than that…not really. Are there competitive rev bangers…sure but 4 was the only time it was really exploited since the AWD pi Nerf was the focus. Since the introduction of the street trans the revbang muscle cars have gone away.
ktm x-bow with 1.6L engine swap in FM5. Only a 5 speed that would top out pretty low but 3rd gear acceleration was so stout that hardly anything could keep up. Pretty sure this was an A and S class issue.
Forza 6 had the rev banging S class lotus and stradale that were carryovers from FM5 and FM5 and FM6 had 5.8L v8s all over the place. Meh top end but crazy acceleration especially when the supercharger was equipped.
Negative PI transmission upgrade did help prevent a lot of the would be rev bangers for muscle cars though a rev banging Dodge Dart has always been a solid choice.
In reality though FM5 was bad about the 1.6L and 5.7L motor swaps. FM6 nerfed the builds a good bit but I for one always used a 5.7L before doing any other build options in FM6. Always netted to a stupid fast car.
At any rate all these issues tie in with PI at its core and this fictional track that I think probably has a bunch of LeMans-esque straights. If a car or if the parts had low top speed values, you could stack them and still fit some handling. You build for acceleration which has been proven over and over to be the best option. This flaw is why PI is off.
I am not saying a balanced build is bad though. You can win easily and top 100-300. It’s the acceleration build that is .3, .5, 1.0, 1.5 seconds faster. FM6 did close this gap to an extent and B class for example had a bunch of options.
However FH3 showed that the AWD and acceleration issues are still present in the code and this can rear it’s ugly head soon. There have been a lot of bandaids, but no fixes.
Agreed, acceleration really matters and it shows with the LB cars. Most are tuned for handling and accel. There’s only a select few tracks that you can’t get away with that and those tracks are mostly straights and about car balance ie. road atlanta long, road of america, le mans, etc.
SMX Moroco. I think Im gonna try your Lotus/Sonoma setup when I have time. Perfect car for the track. I wish FM7 had something like bucket list for Horizon were people could create challenges for each other to try.
Started a Lotus Sonoma build found out that you can go from Stock to Street Tire with no PI gain. But brilliant tune by SMX, the way the car turns in & rotates on the Lotus is amazing.
That’s the thing since adding 160+ hp and almost no PI gain, you can take all that leftover PI and make it great handling. Weight, gearbox, suspension. Im not saying it’s great for all tracks. But for higher HP tracks it’s like a free 160hp.
Advice is to not worry about it because the people spamming those cars are also the same people that are killing this game. Instead of seeing variety you just see the same people using the same exact cars day in and day out. To most people (myself included) that’s incredibly boring.
I have found I can get better handling, and better lap times in A and S classes by using sports tyres instead of slicks and just maximizing the tyre’s width. I get better traction out of corners, instead of the raw grip in the high speed stuff. I did a few laps around Lime Rock in the '05 Lotus Elise tuned to A class with slicks and 195s on the front and 235s on the rear then I tried it with sport tyres and 225 on the front and 275 rear. Over a second a lap faster. That was with cosmetic damage turned on too so no worries about heat. It just was able to put the power down so much better.
In fact, I just did the Radical SR8 championship and set everything to “off” and the races to extra long and the fact that this racing car has to have sports tyres made it all the more fun. I think I’ve really gotten to grips with tuning now, the car was a delight to handle and even when I got trigger happy and out of shape, it was really easy to coax around without losing much time. Don’t bother downloading other people’s tunes, it’s more rewarding to teach yourself and then stick up a top 300 lap time and then look up at how many people have set a time and it says 160,000. At the very least, you think you must be doing something right.
Dont play much? Hoew About the z28 in d and c class which was eventually nerfed, alfa33, all of a class in fm6 was pretty much muscle car with the v8 nascar motor and stock gearbox. The beetle in fm6 was another.
