In multi-player private event setups, we should have the option to FORCE OFF the track-ribbons for all racers in that lobby. To me, you might as well call it an assist.
Here’s why:

Extra visibility is the number one reason why it’s actually just an assist. At night, who even needs headlights when you have giant, bright neon track borders? It basically eradicated the purpose of night racing, fog racing, heavy rain racing when you can just eyeball the track ribbons and not even focus on the road itself. It essentially feels like a TRON racing game with them on.

Takes away from realism: Literally look at the sentence above this one.

Pairs very well with race & Braking lines, but isn’t categorized in-game as an assist? Yet it’s literally just the exact same concept as a race or Braking line, just shifted towards the edges of the track.

It’s an unfair advantage (an assist) when one person literally CAN’T SEE at night fog racing, when someone else in the lobby can of they have track ribbons. Makes the racing unfair for those who know the lines by heart, but can’t see. And the playing field should be even - thus the solution is to have “event setup” lobby control over the use of them. Not just a personal assist.
