Would love to see the Caldina, especially the GT-FOUR, with the powertrain from the legendary Celica GT-FOUR, though revised to produce 260HP from the legendary 3S-GTE (the GT-FOUR also had no oil cooler and a smaller intercooler though that didn’t hurt power and possibly increased efficiency). The first Caldina GT-T had a lot in common with the euro-spec Avensis in terms of body panels, while the last gen looked pretty unique from any other model as a real sports wagon with a fastback-like rear and a sporty design and based on the MC platform which was new at the time (This got the “sporty” version of the platform shared with the Celica/Avensis and others, front MacPherson and rear Double Wishbones) (and second was auto only with advanced version of Toyotas computer controlled ECT transmission, dubbed Super ECT, the GT-FOUR got a special Tiptronic with a “+” “-” selector on the auto gear selector (no paddle shifters or buttons on the steering wheel), makes it look kinda like a rally sequential gearbox!).
For the second gen, there was a special “N” model of the GT-FOUR, paying tribute to the engineer of the first gen Celica GT-FOUR and legendary test driver Hiromu Naruse who also inspired Akio Toyoda (aka Morizo) and had the input in many legendary cars over the years, including the 2000GT, all gens of the Celica, LFA and many more. This model featured a special LSD, Recaro seats and revised suspension among other changes such as a front strut brace for increased rigidity. The suspension got revised new monotube shocks that were tuned on the B-Roads around the Nürburgring, showing that this is designed to be a B-Road Monster, similar to thr Celica (and of course on gravel)!
It’s important to remember that the GT-Four system was used on many cars, though it was only called GT-Four on 3S-GTE powered cars and Alltrac in the US (also on non 3S-GTE cars) and was of course more power oriented than the others. GT-Four was a revolutionary AWD system, and the modern GR-Four system on the GR Yaris, GR Corolla, LBX Morizo RR and the GR86 GR-Four concept pays hommage to that and is a modern version of it!
