Welcome to the first TORA Charity Event - The 1000km of Bathurst
This event will be the first big endurance race that we’ve run on Forza Motorsport 5, and I’m really pleased that we will be raising money towards an organisation that means a great deal to me personally.
The British Heart Foundation is the UK’s number one heart charity.
Coronary heart disease is the UK’s single biggest killer but the British Heart Foundation are leading the fight against it. Their pioneering research has helped to transform the lives of people living with heart and circulatory conditions and their work has been central to the discoveries of vital treatments that are helping to change the face of the UK’s fight against heart disease.
I would like to invite you to join the TORA Staff in supporting this worthy cause, and encourage the race entrants to seek sponsorship for taking part and raise some money!
In that light, I’ve set up a personal “JustGiving” page so that I can do my part, and you’ll find a guide on how you can do that too in the separate sponsorship thread (here), and also a TORA “team page” that each person gathering sponsorship can join, to show the combined funds raised by everybody.
Each car will require 2 drivers, (no more, no less). As a guideline or suggestion when seeking sponsorship, you could be sponsored a small amount, for example 1p per kilometre that you drive (this would work out as £10 for the full 1000km). Since there must be 2 drivers per car, the maximum distance you can possibly drive is (just over) 750km so your sponsors may wish to offer more per km, or simply a fixed amount for taking part.
See you on the track!

Race Details:
Qualifying:
Qualifying will take place over the course of the week leading up to the race and will allow each driver to run in one 20 minute session of their choice to set their fastest time.
The fastest time from each car (fastest of the two drivers) will be used to set the grid positions for positions 11 onwards. The drivers that set the 10 fastest times (per car) will then compete in a Top 10 Shootout to determine the starting order for positions 1-10.
The Top 10 Shootout will take place on Friday 21st Feb 2014 at 10pm GMT and will comprise of one out lap and one flying lap per car, starting with the 10th fastest from Qualifying, then 9th and so-on.
Race:
The race will take place on Sunday 23rd Feb 2014, starting at 12pm GMT and expected to run until 7pm GMT (assuming no delays between stints).
The race will be split into 4 stints. The total race distance is 161 laps, so stints will be split as follows:
Stint 1: 40 laps
Stint 2: 40 laps
Stint 3: 40 laps
Stint 4: 41 laps
Aproximate stint time will be 90 minutes with breaks between stints to allow for lobby handover etc.
Each car entered requires 2 drivers, therefore the maximum number of stints a driver can run in is 3.
