I have been having trying to complete this challenge 7 times to reach 275,000 points, and all of them have been unsuccessful. The best I could is 259,100. The worse I have done is 155,900. I have tried simulation driving, stability,friction, and abs all off. I had no problems at all with the other two bowling ball challenges with the limo, and the ford interceptor crown victoria. To me, the problem could be that the baja beetle is made for off-roading and not for this challenge. Also the beetle has not that much of tire width to be drifting to get the pins down.
Go slow, hit as many as you can, by the time i figured this out my score was around 360k
You can drop the Drivatar Difficulty in settings to step down the points requirement. The lowest - New Racer - requires 215,000.
