I like the new intro. It reminds me of the street meet scenes you got loading up FH2 (RIP those servers).
I agree, total waste of time, doesnât fit the music, cars donât fit the games overall aesthetic, and worst of all makes the game look like a busy music festival, when it is a barren empty wasteland.
I am absolutely sure it only took someone an hour, which shows, so I am left to wonder why bother. a self-pat on the back for finally giving us a bunch of old cars.
(I understand I hold the minority opinion here)
I think thereâs two completely different, unrelated topics that are being âmergedâ. Itâs pretty obvious this intro wasnât done âin lieu ofâ tangible game improvements, so I really donât see what the big deal is. Itâs a nice change to highlight the series; NBD.
Fresh look with the same captivating music. Worth keeping and worth the effort
Itâs overexposed and looks out of focus. Just that âArtisticâ effect of glare, maybe? Idk, not my thing. I can understand some of the communityâs interest in the content but I havenât been able to watch more than the first scene. And actually not even that completely.
I can understand peopleâs frustrations mentioned but I donât want coders recording cinematics and I donât want the art department to be coding.
It makes me think of a car gathering like in the days of FH2 and FH3. It actually gives hope for better days ahead for the future of the game.
I like the new intro. I like the new series. And so far I like the new season. I have hope for the next season.
Edit: sry late reply life got in the way yesterday then i forgot to come back and check the forums.
@x_l_4M_L3G3ND_x I have my opinion and i wanted to express it its not petty, and you have your opinion no disrespect taken
I dont like how the music doesnt fit the theme you dont hire a mariachi band to play at an italian festival
It just seems like a waste of team members time. Hey guys look what we can do? While half the game is flawed
My game still crashes every day
Loading times terrible
Leaderboards still flooded
All the car defects people mention
Just saw this the other day, i wouldnt call it a bug but the stat for being in first place will add time when your in rivals regardless of being in front of the ghost.
To me this just says âwe dont care about how flawed our game isâ
And wow you brought back cars that from previous games, doesnt deserve a useless intro
What if I told you that the Horizon Festival is a music festival? Ever noticed the stages and loudspeakers? There are even NPCâs who dance.
Ever go to a car show, car enthusiasts gathering, or race event where there wasnât music?
A mariachi band playing? Ok, where is the festival? What did you want? Mexican Opera singers?
Yes, the game has flaws. Yes, I have been one of the gameâs biggest distracters. Yes, the cars have flaws. But yes, it actually does seem like the developers are trying to make changes. And yes I am holding out hope for the future of the franchise.
Pretty sure the bug fix team is a different group of people than the art team.
Not to mention this intro was probably completed more than a year agoâŚ
Pretty sure the bug fix team is, ok, try and stay positive Ron.
Iâll finish that for you.
Retired since 2021.
Iâve been joking this whole time, itâs the best thing theyâve done since getting rid of series numbers.
I was reading about these âsprint teamsâ that would go around to clinics and work on their electronic medical record system for 2 week intervals. Every day they would classify the clinicâs requests into set categories. âbacklog, to do, in process, done, parking lotâ. I believe parking lot was kind of their equivalent to @AnakalaRonâs favorite by design/wonât fix category (those are two separate things⌠but the effect is the same in that theyâre not gonna address it). In particular, there were some requests that they wouldnât be able to accomplish within the 2 week sprint, so at least they were up front about managing expectations.
I like how that helps communicate to their intended audience where everything is at in the process. Granted, it takes time/energy to track/categorize such things⌠but surely they are tracking such things anyway. So if there were a way to be less opaque about what things were being worked on, I think it would be a win/win. Such good communication is typically associated, in my experience, with smaller teams.
Marketing
itâs a victory lap for finally giving us a bunch of cars they teased pre-release
I think most players really liked and appreciated the new intro and the previous ones they did for the anniversary update. Maybe couldve used different music(from the one thats already licenced of course) but thatâd be really just nitpicking.
My take is that these intros are so universally liked because they brought back something that was missing. Theyâre so much more focused on cars, people chatting and just wallking around and enjoying themselves. It gives you the feeling that this could actually be happening in the game. And that the fictional game world of Mexico is actually inhabited and lively and the festival isnât just about get into a car and race. For say 20-30 seconds or however much time you spend on the starting screen you can dip into the fantasy and even roleplay in your head that what youâre seeing on screen is what it feels like playing the game.
And hereâs the problem that hit me recently. After i boot the game past the loading screens i realized how very little of what i just saw is being reflected in the game itself.
The festival feeling that the older titles managed to bring? Where are the car meets? Where are the festival drivers talking that talk to each other or appear on the tracks like in FH1,FH2 and FH3? Where are the pedestrians? Where are the cool cutscenes and cinematics? In the end of the day this intro is nothing but marketing. Dressing up the festival playlist and the open world with some palm trees or chrismas decorations is the same thing - marketing with no substance. Horizon shouldâve improved on this aspect and inovate , not take it away. We can only wish that playing horizon 5 felt exactly like the opening screen of the latest intro.
