Man, only car I don’t have in my garage is the McLaren 720sPO car. I hope they eventually give us a chance to get one. Would be nice if it popped up for a day during this down time.
And for clothes, I wish they’d put up the Chauffeur outfit and hat, as that is all I am missing that I’d like to have. I’ve been playing since I think last April, so over a year now and it’s never been made available during that time.
Just tried your -40 handicap test Bree. Good fun. There was one tuned RX8 in the race (who also seemed to have no issue with smashing into me at corners) who won all three but I was able to comfortably beat all the drivatars.
The 512 seems an odd choice for the shop, given that it was a reward last week!
They could look at what’s going for 10-20MM CR on auction house? Hmmm. Mind-breaking.
I still don’t understand cars from Car Show selling for more than buyout, i.e. Jag C-type, Bugatti Veyron, couple others. Things are on AH constantly. What IS that?
I’ve never been able to figure that out. Cars that sell on the auction house that you can buy directly from the Autoshow for significantly less money. It’s as if people don’t realise the Autoshow is there
The game menus are laid out in a strange way, perhaps people can’t find half the things they are looking for. messages are only found outside for example… that’s weird!
Due to this being a ‘no-car’ season due to the update hiccup, I had planned on skipping the week. But I thought better of it and decided to keep on and do things as usual. Not got all the Championships done, but I do have the Trial, PPG, and Stunts done for everyone’s perusal.
SEASONAL EVENTS
The Trial Co-Op Championship: “Summertime Mazdaness” | Dirt Racing | (B700) Mazda
Car Used: 2011 Mazda RX-8
Tune: Baby Dorito - 452 993 457
I figured since I had a chance to mess with a rotary for once, I’d go for it. My original attempt at a tune beefed up the tires and traction and left a stock engine. This was too slow to catch up on my tests on the first track, so I went back and flipped it. Spent my PI on the engine instead of the tires, and… well, it’s still slow off the line, but it can catch up with ease. Got two 3rds and a 7th (only because I smacked a barrier head-on in the second race trying to get a corner sharply), and my team won with ease.
Seasonal Playground Games: Bamburgh Castle | (B700) Retro Rally
Car Used: 1980 Audi Sport quattro
Tune: You and I - 119 619 908
BONUS! Paint: Pride 2020 - 464 741 448
I’ll probably also put the design in the proper thread, but this is a decent car. Quite honestly, I made it because I’m saddled with two of these things that I can’t get rid of. It’s not perfect, but it’s above average and can get the job done.
PR Stunt: Swan Dive Danger Sign | 984.3 feet
- PR Stunt: Northbridge Speed Trap | 180.0 mph*
- PR Stunt: Sudmoss Speed Zone | 150.0 mph***
Car Used: Koenigsegg CCGT*
Tune: Zoner - 160 891 674*
For once, I was able to use one car for all three PR stunts. Seeing how we just had Swan Dive last week, the same thing still applies to it: Start on the road west of Meadows Sprint and cut through the field. Aiming is tricky, but I was able to almost clear the pond without touching water with the CCGT. Northbridge was a run-in from the south, just needing to dodge traffic, and Sudmoss was coming in from the east side and managing the corners properly.*
Yesterday, I gave you my Trial, PPG, and Stunt cars. Today, I give you my Championship builds and how I dealt with the Weekly Challenge. Had a bit of fun, but the Decades Championships gave me flashbacks from last time I did it.
Weekly Challenge:
[Must be done in sequence to count.]
Own and drive the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport
Tune Used: pour Django - 114 508 709
There wasn’t supposed to be a theme this week, but everything I built this week (outside of RX8 for the Trial and the Reventón from a previous build) have a bit of a music theme. The Veryon tune was named after Django Reinhardt. It’s pretty much topped up at S2, and it’s a goer.
Earn 30 Ultimate Speed Skills while driving the Veyron
Track Used: M68 Test Strip - 121 822 016
You really don’t need a track to do this one, but having a closed circuit makes it much easier. With this one, I managed to get 28 of the 30 that I needed in one race… and found a bit of a bug in my track (and probably all custom circuits): I flew off on the hard turn on the M68 heading south and missed a couple of my checkpoints… and the game never sent me back. Got to where the finish should be, but it wasn’t there due to all the missed checkpoints. So just a heads-up on that. After quitting the race (I was quite a ways back from the checkpoint I missed and didn’t feel like trying to go back), I used my set up for the next part to get the last two, though.
Earn a total of 12 stars from Speed Traps with the Veyron
I figured it would be best to link all the speed traps in one line, so I set out a bit of a route: start on the west side of the northern roundabout on the M68 and go south then west. You can hit 4 traps this way: M68, Oakwood Crest, High Street, and The Grange. Since I clipped some traffic on the M68, I didn’t get all 12 stars in one go. So I went to the “Y” intersection to the west, turned around and hit The Grange again.
Earn 4 Ultimate Skill Chains in the Veyron
Again, you really don’t need a track to do this (I got one racing back from The Grange, jumping the windmill, and heading back to the Emlsdon on Sea Sprint location), but the M68 Test Strip I mentioned above works great for this. The way I have it set up, you’re going flat out most of the time and keep racking up Ultimate Speeds that combo into each other. If you can get stopped and restarted well enough, you can get multiple Ultimate Skill Chains in a race with ease.
And now, for the Championships:
(Disclaimer: Championships run on Pro difficulty unless otherwise noted.) SEASONAL EVENTS
Championship: "Horizon Decades - 50s” | Cross Country | (D500) 1950s models
Car Used: 1958 MG MGA Twin-Cam
Tune: Soul Dressing - 878 648 345
I remember this Championship from the last time we did it. It’s a bit tricky to build for because it also has both a dirt track and a road track in the mix. I think I used either the Chevrolet Utility Sedan or the Bel Air last time. I started out attempting to use the Hudson Hornet, but it was too bulky to take the jumps happily. Surprisingly, the MGA had about the same speed and slippery control as the Hornet, but the lightness made it much better. Definitely a good car for this series.
Championship: “Forest Racing” | Road Racing | (S1 900) Modern Supercars
Car Used: 2008 Lamborghini Reventón
Tune: B for Bull -119 766 081
I had this tune laying around from an S1 Italian street championship a few weeks back. It worked decent for that, and it worked fairly well for this. Acceleration is a bit sluggish, but it can corner well and has the top end when it gets there.
Championship: “Chaotic Commute” | Road Racing | (A800) Vans and Utility
Car Used: 1970 Chevrolet El Camino
Tune: Tenderness - 278 236 936
I was highly tempted to use a van for this one, but I felt like building up some classic Detroit Muscle for this one. And it drives just like you’d imagine: raw power with a with a turning radius that’s measured in miles. I could have built something better rounded, I’m quite sure. But this was actually fun to drive when I compensated for the inability to make sharp turns.
I had no problem with ranked adventure earlier today. However, there was only one other human player for The Trial. This might have been due to lack of interest since there was no prize car.
