Last night I had the pleasure to race in an X class lobby with a group of guys I swore was cheating. It is hot and muggy in Ohio and my air conditioning is running in my basement where I race so I keep my mic muted most of the time. After seven races where I had a clean lap most of the time, except where fighting traffic the whole race, I couldn’t take it anymore, that the same guys were winning and leading most races and not run clean laps, so in my usual fashion I turned on my mic and unloaded on them about the usual “cheating suspects”. After my surprise attack was launched they wanted to mute me and were surprised that I was so disturbed about a video game. They were racing to have fun and having a dirty lap for cutting corners etc. didn’t matter because they were all doing it. I was the only one that racing between the lines was important to. I apologized for my outburst and explained that it was important to me to win or lose by racing clean. After that I won a few and some of them won a few racing clean. They were actually quite competitive.
The moral to my story is that our current version of Forza appeals to both recreational and serious racers. The current configuration of MP lobbies places both together with a mix of people whose purpose in playing Forza is to ruin the other two groups races. Until the lobbies are separated and configured in a way that appeals to a single type of racer we will have to race together, and get along.
I hope I have not raced with you and ruined ur races. I do wall rode and cut corners most of the time cause that’s they lobbies I mostly find myself in. I do race clean tho everytime I am in a clean lobby. So if I am ever in a lobby with you plz don’t hesitate to call me out if you wanna race clean. I have no problem racing clean when I can. Just fair warning tho lf there is a wrecker in the lobby ruining my race you will see me get some payback till they leave the lobby.
Kinda hard when ur being pushed everywhere and cut off by cutters who then slam and keep going. My patience ran out against them. This game is fun when ur not being continuously beat by them. That’s why I started following them and beating them at their own game.
It’s a sad day when our finest drivers, the guys who give us our tunes go private to avoid the mayhem. The exodus happened quickly in FM5, less than a year. I think it is the limitations of the MP hoppers. Can’t create a match that is not attractive to those that can ruin our races!
I don’t have problems with people taking me out because I’m generally a well-liked driver in the X-Class lobbies. Wall riders and corner cutters don’t really have an effect on me either. What gets me is the constant unavoidable collisions cause by overly aggressive and inexperienced drivers, and surely you know that any collision in the E21 is likely going to send you and the other driver spinning.
I wouldn’t entirely blame it on the community. F1 is not an easy class to race with 12+ drivers going over 200MPH; collisions are going to happen, but shouldn’t happen as much as they do now. I still race public lobbies every now and then and still enjoy them, but I prefer playing ghosted and sim lobbies with the same 20 or so reliable people I always play with. It’s a luxury that I’m taking advantage of that keeps me playing this game.
Cutting corners dont bother me,Wall riding does because this is not the first forza game that allows it.Turn 10 fix this please. It should slow you down or cause a spin out when there bumper snags a fence.
There will always be gamers that take advantage of glitches in a game, So fix the glitches . And put all abusers in a lobby with other glitchers and crashers for a time out or something.
Ah I’m pretty sure FM5 is not the first Forza you can cut corners in, plus I get crashed more by corner cutters flying back on the track than some bonehead wall rider that is no where close to my racing line.
But at the end of the day my blocked players list grows larger every time I race.
Thats what I was saying but there could be some type of pennalty ,and I block bad sports everyday but it doesn,t stop anything. With that being said I do find greart lobbys from time to time,so you win some you get crashed some, lol
Yeah…not always, though. There is something to be said for consistency. If somebody is in a five lap race running consistent 2:08 laps, he will beat somebody who ran a 2:06 and the rest 2:10s. Assuming the first guy isn’t deliberately cheating, I don’t think it is fair to say he didn’t win his race.
Exactly. Consistency is as important, if not more, as quickness in circuit racing. A win mostly rely on consistent laps than one lap quicker than the rest.
I feel the same way, I would go a little farther and exclude those who run one clean lap to justify their win to those like us. For example I was in a lobby where I was giving grief to the leaders about clean laps. The next race they won by 20 seconds but their clean lap was a half second slower than mine. A token clean lap means nothing to me. I hate that we get dinged for passing people or getting passed. If we have a great catch up race, we get all dirty laps for passing, then look like an idiot for talking about racing clean. Dirty lap protocols for public MP races should be reviewed. I understand the drafting thing and how it could affect leader board times. Most leader board times are set in a static environment anyway. Drafting is a racing strategy, if a driver can use it to his advantage in a public race and set a top LB time, good for them.
I had the same problem. It’s difficult to learn to be a better racer/tuner when you’re racing against a bunch of hacks 90% of the time. I rarely use multiplayer now.
The point of it is to race around a track as fast as you can. Going off the track and driving over grass/sand/gravel/ baby penguins, basically deviating from the set track lay out to go faster is “cheating” iF this was a real world setting ignoring the fact you would do some serious damage to your car going off track like that you would be black flagged and kicked outof the race. Of course this is not the real world and its a game with out real world penalties. Like you said the lobbies cater to both casual players and serious racers. So someone might not be playing by your rules it may seem like cheating but in there eye its not. Personally I feel in the spirt of the game cutting corners or wall riding is cheating. This is why I liked the user controled rooms in FM2. They did a great job of policing them selfs.
Cheating online irritates me too, but it is what it is. The vast majority of players have very limited knowledge of motorsport and some may not even drive in real life. There’s a serious learning curve to this game, it takes quite a bit of practice to be truly good.
Most people who cut corners to gain time aren’t that fast to begin with. Same with people who would rather try to shunt you off the track than race door to door and get beaten by you. Wallriders on Bernese Alps are the worst, I personally have no understanding of the thought process behind what motivates people to do that.
If you’re fast you can win without cheating. And there will always be someone who comes along and is faster than you. Sometimes part of being a good driver is accepting that another driver is quicker than you. It would be much better if everyone practiced good sportsmanship and competed to the best pf their ability without looking for some way to exploit the game.
