I’m just wondering if I really need to own a car from every manufacturer currently represented in the game, meaning I won’t be able to get the achievement because I only finally re-acquired the game after the DLC servers were taken offline(so despite having the ultimate collection, I’m still missing the final pack and thus can’t get the Pantera or DeLorean…), or do I only need to purchase a car from every manufacturer that was present since the game launched, meaning DLC doesn’t count…?
It is based on the content you have - if you don’t own the DLC you don’t need to worry about a manufacturer that is only present in that pack.
As suggested above works but can be a pain if your garge gets a little full later on.
The other way is to delete the car from your HDD - not your save but the actual data downloaded. Once you have the achievement you can re download the free car from your download history. Depends on how confident you are doing that or how brave you are feeling I guess. Personally buying on in the AH is a good start.
You might want to consider that - if you delete the downloaded data from you HDD, even if it’s in your download history - you might not ever be able to get it back! I’ve read/heard that it’s No longer available from the servers!
Now what if I have the free car from that last pack…?
I was able to get around this “problem” by purchasing a Pantera and a DeLorean in the auction house. If you can win one - they will show up in your garage -locked, unable to be driven- but they will count for the owing a car from those Mfgs.
Still, I wish there was a way to get the DLC on a CD!

You can also back up your downloaded date to an USB stick.
Get the achievement with the data removed from your hard drive.
Put the DLC data back.

Anyone remember what the free car from the last pack was?
I’ll likely try that method for my second profile…
Had to do some searching but I believe it was the AMC Javelin AMX.
