Sketch Designer was designed for Forza Motorsports & Forza Horizon titles to aid in logo design. The software overlays the game window allowing you to trace a image in game out of various shapes. You can change location, size and transparency of a image allowing you to trace a image.
Once you have your image you can move the image to the location where you are going to be making your logo and you can fine adjust size and transparency with the sliders.
Once you complete your design you can visually colour match the logo by moving it to one side and adjusting the colour using the advanced colour option, use this to match the colour’s in your design/logo.
I’ll give this a try for the one or another Company Sticker. My patience to copy things is really low, so that could help to do things right the first time, instead of trying and retrying and reshaping and rescaling… Thanks for the work, will try and comment here.
Oh, wow! This looks like it will finally get me away from transparencies stuck to the screen Great progress since the June version.
The Forza specific colour picker is very handy. No more divide by 360
A few wishlist items:
Being able to use a percentage zoom means that I can go back to an existing vinyl and just have to position the overlay (no worse than the physical method). However, it would be nice to be able to save specific screen coordinate and zoom setups for individual vinyls (just a small text file would be fine).
Drag and drop would be nice both for image and setups.
Hotkeys for hiding/showing the overlay and increasing/decreasing transparency.
Hi @RallyzX360 we have implemented a couple of your suggestions such as hotkeys in the latest update.
You can now drag and drop images into the preview-image area and even drag and drop images into the applications executable icon and the app will start up with the image. You can also move the image placement with the hotkeys for fine adjustments.
Check the download page for new Hotkeys in Sketch Designer v1.4
Thank you for your suggestions as it has helped to improve Sketch Designer.
That’s great! Many thanks MrVelocity for adding those, I’ll check them out later on. The setup file option is less important than I thought as it’s relatively easy to readjust zoom and position. Certainly no worse than repositioning a transparency sheet on the screen!
trying this out now, like it a lot. Much better than having to make Forza transparent with Glass2k.
Only thing I miss is the ability to choose part of the picture (i.e. move the borders to select part of an image- I’m doing some fonts and I want to have just one line of the image visible at a time, so with picture viewer I just decrease the size of the window (without decreasing image size) until I have the part I want visible. I don’t seem to be able to do it with this (unless I’m missing something).
I can crop the image into several different pieces instead, so not a game breaker, just a minor inconvenience.
I’m not able to get the hot keys to work, whether Forza or SketchDesigner has the focus. I remember I wasn’t able to do this before with the original single hotkey. Is there something I need to do to get it to work?
The hotkeys are working fine for me (although I just realized the sketch designer overlay only shows up with the game in windowed mode for me- not sure if it’s supposed to be that way).
btw, just checked- the hot keys are working no matter where the focus is, so they’re good for me.
Thanks for that, turns out it works a lot better if you type on the correct keyboard … who knew?
All working fine now
I can confirm that SketchDesigner disappears in Full Screen mode, but is fine in windowed or Maximised modes. It is mentioned on the web page as it needs to be always in front, and I guess Full Screen mode effectively prioritises the main program over all others so SD can’t get in front of it.
If you hide the taskbar, the game window will be slightly bigger. I do this when I paint because otherwise it’s harder to tell if the vinyls are touching correctly.
Always check your work in full screen (Alt + Enter will toggle full screen) because sometimes the vinyls don’t quite match up.
Odd. Mine is working OK. Not sure why it would need to access a remote server except for updates (or if you had last accessed a file from Dropbox or whatever.).
This program is pretty good! Link works by the way now… With the new Windows 10 update you can pretty much scratch Glass2k off your list of usable programs. Unless it’s because I’m special, it totally stopped working for me. Thankfully I found this thread with Sketch Designer. Who ever designed this should be thanked a billion times over which might not be enough. This program pretty much demolishes Glass2k with features and even has a color drop tool to help you color match without fault. Also pictures come border less right off the bat. To whomever developed this program… you are awesome.
Sketch Desinger doesnt work for me anymore after the latest Windows Update. At least it seems like it was the Windows Update.
When i Click on the .exe nothing happens. It just wont open the Tool anymore.
Totally sucks because now i have to use Glass2k and its not even nearly as good as Sketch Designer.
Been using this for awhile. Works well to get things sized properly and some decent perspective for something detailed. This was my first attempt at something complex once I installed Forza on my PC (use my PC for vinyls & liveries, console to play the game). I really just use it for sizing things, the details and shading is actually easier to do if you do it on your own.
