Settings for controller?

Hello everyone… I am not that good at drifting but i do not suck completely also. Are there any recommended slider settings for a controller (unfortunately i do not own a steering wheel) that makes drifting a bit more manageable. I know that steering must be set to normal and not simulation. But is there anything more to change in the advanced settings of the controller.?

Thanks

I use a controller with these settings on the Default Layout #13, hope it helps!

Steering Deadzone Inside: 1
Steering Deadzone Outside: 100

Steering Linearity: 51 (or 50, mainly personal preference)

Accel. Deadzone Inside: 1
Accel. Deadzone Outside: 100

Decel. Deadzone Inside: 2
Decel. Deadzone Outside: 100

Clutch and Ebrake settings leave at default settings,
Also I use Simulation steering as I find normal to be too “arcade style” and don’t get the full feel of the car, but that’s just personal preference.

I am also crappy at drifting, will give this a go… Any other tips?

Either start with something on the low end power band, or something thats overkill, and then let’erip’taterchip!

Find a sweet spot when the car holds the RPM steady, hold onto that while you ride into the peak of the corner, if you’re swinging out feather the throttle and counter steer as you feel needed. The handbrake can be very useful in initiation as well as during a drift to extend it towards a corner, I tend to use it during drift simultaneously while shifting to help the tires hook more but that’s slightly more personal preference.

If your looking for tips on making a tune check out my tips in this other thread:

Edit: Another extra tip, Use the brakes more while initiating a drift and when you feel to much power is used. Brake balance in this game makes a huge difference to how a car takes corners. The tune in that link uses more rear pressure so lightly adding brakes in a drift helps a great deal.
Also wanted to note that nissan Tune has a terribly long first gear so Manual Transmission will be required.

I’m willing to help out as well. I’ve been drifting since before Forza was even out. I can get online and play with anyone that needs a bit of help. Just let me know. Happy to help. My GT is the same on here.

I don’t change any of the actual controller settings. I just keep traction and stability control turned off, set it to manual (or for some manual w/ clutch) and go out drifting. For a lot of people, they do not know how to tune their vehicles or get a tune from someone and do not know how to drift it on how they tune. Getting with someone who can tune their vehicles and help you with a tune or find someone who tunes for the masses or even finding someone to drift with helps out a lot. I have done tunes over my Twitch channel for people and have had them come and drift with me, and built cars for all of us to drift so we are all on an even playing field. Once you find a car you can drift decent with, it’s just practicing from their.

I’ve been making drift tunes since FH3, but one thing I’ve encountered was gearing. Before I had the gears really short, so I couldn’t hold angle. I eventually found a setup that sort of worked but needed a lot of practice to control. I heard somewhere that you want your gears relatively long (geared towards speed & power) so you just hover above red-line with most of your power keeping your car’s wheels spinning keeping you in a drift. Just one more thing is about me personally. Over time I adapted to drifting in 2nd, 3rd, and occasionally 4th gear to drift. I don’t use 4th all that often but I mainly drift in 3rd (anyone else drift in 3rd?) but that’s juts personal preference. So if anyone else does what I do then that would be great. Another thing is controller setup. I really never paid any attention to it even back in FH3 that but as I was scrolling through this forum I found something about it. Anyone have any tips for controller setup? Thank you.
