The most desirable car is locked behind multiplayer, again. What a surprise.

Why do they keep locking the most desirable cars behind online multiplayer? This is the THIRD update in a row in which this has happened.

Update 14 locked the VW I.D. R behind the Trial. Update 15 locked the Rossion Q1 behind the Summer Seasonal Playground Games. And now comes Update 16, which brings along the 2019 488 Pista… which is locked behind the stupid Trial event for the summer season.

Why do they keep doing this?

So you rather complete 50% of the season that completing a one-time online race (If you convoy with the right people) ?

Yes, I do.

“Right people” are needles in a haystack.

I do too.

Last time I did a trial it took 15 attempts to get the prize. I placed top three everytime, but ended up wasting 2-3 hours. It frustrated me so much that I decided a virtual car was not worth the hassle it can be.

And peoples are different, for me trial is most fun and this way i can skip everything else in that week and just do trial and get only car i want.

Yeah but you’re a good driver from what I know. Most aren’t at your level, let alone mine (I think I’m worse from what I remember).

Yes i may be better than most players so i cant really say what kinda experience trial is for avarage or below avarage players. But no matter how PG brings new cars in game there is allways peoples that are not happy even if they would just give new cars everyone without nothing peoples would complain that they get those cars too easily.

No, they would not. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone complain about getting free cars in any racing game, ever.

Only the people who just can’t let go of Gran Turismo’s grindfest from 20 years ago would be complaining about free cars.

Even this forum peoples have been talking that they dont want that every car is just gifted to right away to anyone. And i enjoy myself getting something after completing challenge than getting same thing in free without any effort.

Still every time there is new car locked behind trial we hear “it’s not fair that it’s locked behind trial” at least in trial good drivers can carry not so good drivers to get prize. And at least it’s not like orginal rip rod event where you need to get win against 11 other human player or behind rivals “reach time xx.xxx to get prize”

It’s funny how, when it’s in disagreement with the devs, this forum is a “small part of the fanbase”, yet when is in support of their decisions, it magically becomes very important.

From what I’ve seen, here and on Discord, the only reason why people want exclusives to continue is so they feel better having something exclusive, which is, well, not very nice to people who love the cars but lack the skill.

I’ve said it countless times but, in a nutshell:

  • This game is called “Horizon”. As in, you know, the horizon in the background, implying freedom. The freedom to drive whatever you want and be whatever you want. The freedom to live the dream. Currently, this game does not let you do that. Almost 20% of the cars are locked behind things between stories, wheelspins or just plain exclusivity. This limits freedom. This prevents people from easily owning multiple builds, which has always been a staple of Forza.

  • The Auction House is currently broken. Lots of people who cheesed their way to Legendary get to set whatever prices they want, while regular players have to make do with the fluctuating prices. And the auctions are extremely vulnerable to PC exploits, which aren’t easy to ban. It’s also slow and awkward to use (I haven’t bought a car in the AH since forever).

  • Locking cars behind online play is anti-consumer towards Xbox One players, who must pay for online as opposed to PC players. “Just get a PC” is not an answer. I own one, but I like the Xbox better, deal with it.

  • Lots of exclusives are being added in simply to break the game (race cars like the Koenigsegg CCGT being the most obvious examples).

  • The exclusive roster is much better than the paid DLC so far. I preordered Ultimate Edition and got a bunch of FM4/FH1 remasters, meme cars and Lego stuff, meanwhile the people who sub Game Pass for $1 have access to Bugatti Divo, Rimac C_Two, Aston Martin DBS Superleggera, 488 Pista…

  • Winning team-based online challenges is not entirely reliant upon my skill. Especially true in Team Games but also applies to Trial. There are certain almost unwinnable combinations due to the playerbase either not being skilled enough, or simply not being smart to use the good cars.

  • FE cars, which are truly deserving of exclusivity, have become worthless next to common cars like Hudson Hornet. PG has a bunch of FE cars they could port from FM7 and make them OP and exclusive instead, yet they choose not to.

Personally, I’m not even bothered by having to unlock stuff. I gladly did all of the showcases in FM7’s career and have the achievement to prove it. It has always been the timed aspect of it that annoys me, but people tend to misinterpret, claiming me and others want to “have it easy”, when it’s simply not true.

I remember when TDU2 came out, there were cars locked behind club ownership, casinos… And I was vehemently against it. Always have been. TDU1 had none of this nonsense. Now I see something similar in Forza. I remain against it.

Waiting for so long to get the Pista only to have it available in a Trial is a kick in the nuts.

PG throw most of freedom from this game in trash can right for the beginning like online adventure and rivals was for beginning there was not any freedom at all. Abaout locked cars it would be nice to when you unlock that car that would became available in car show so owning multiple copys would be mutch easier.

AH is now better than it was in launch, it’s better to use and everyone can get better price for rare cars and i have allways says legendary status in auction house is really bad system.

Would that be better if cars like Divo, Pista, Apollo etc would be locked behind pay dlc? Sounds bit weird that you complain new cars locked behind trial because that needs xbox gold and sametime you also complain how people can get really nice cars for free instead of locking them behind paywall.

Online challenges are not reliant 100% of anyones skill but still somehow more skilfull players wins trials like 90% of time. Pretty mutch only times trial is feel unwinnable was warthog event where those two sprint races AI was really damn fast and it take really skilfull team to win that event.

somebody ordered a warthog?

Its not that hard to find the right people
There are plenty of people on here that have the same frame of mind and want to play as a team
And on discord as well…as YOU should know

I know, funny that isn’t it…

Why, specifically, is it funny?

That you would rather complete 50% than doing the Trial (which no one knows what the tracks are or car and class yet).

I find that somewhat amusing but if you dont, well that’s your prerogative.

Having it as a 50% unlock would have been far better, you can do it when you have time and without having to rely on the moronic forza community to beat the A.I. If they want to keep the garbage that is the Trial then it should require a ticket, in order to get the ticket you should have to three star every championship for that season. Once done, you can enter the Trial. This would weed out the bad drivers because none of them have the skill to beat “highly skilled” drivatars and it would atleast be an improvement on the chaos that it is at the moment. Last time i did a Trial i was being used as a brake by the other idiots in the race, even when i was out in front they would spear into me.

Why not just give players who complete either the single player or multiplayer objectives some form of currency, and then make the reward cars available for said currency? That way, players can choose whether they want to pursue solo or online objectives without restricting their choice of rewards.

They could call them Forza-something Points?
