Seasonal Championship (Advice)

Hello,
This is my first post. I’m not sure if this is the right place to be asking this… Here is my dilemma.

I’ve entered a Autumn Seasonal Championship (Cross Country Series). I’m also playing the game on Expert difficulty. I’ve had to purchase new vehicles to participate in the series. I’ve successfully completed the first two stages, coming first place in both. The problem I’m having occurs in the third race ‘Coastal Rush Cross County’. I can get into first place only to lose it every time, after the jump into the large body of water. I have repeated this race numerous times only to lose my place at this point and I’m unable to catch back up. I can be in first place only to lose exponentially more speed hitting the water. It’s as though the NPC racers are not effected the water at all. Despite being in the same or similar vehicles.
I was wondering if anyone has managed to find a way to get over this water without slowing down as much? Is there a secrete way around this pond? Maybe I’m missing something about the mechanics of jumping into water? There is nothing in the car setup/tunings that looks like it will prevent this (ie. snorkel). I’m so close to winning and it’s annoying me because I can’t work out what’s slowing the car more then the NPC in the game. Is it me? If so what have I been missing? If someone has found a way around this pond. Please let me know.
I’m racing in the Hoonigan Focus.

I apologise if I have posted this in the wrong place. I’m a noob to forums :stuck_out_tongue:
