S2 cross country builds?

I know they took S2 cross country out of the Open racing rotation, but for my own interests, I want to have a good S2 cross country build. It seems like most cars that can make it to S998 are hypercars/track toys with super low ground clearance (like 5-6 inches max with a rally suspension.) I’ve tried a number of trucks so far but can’t get anything with good ground clearance to S998 with offroad tires.

Alternatively, is it possible that the PI system is so skewed toward road racing that the fastest cross country builds in S2 are less than S998?

Any info is helpful, I know I can go and do brute force testing a lot of options, but that could take a while.

Just go to rivals leaderboards and got to global. Scroll down until you find what is probably legit times and see what people are using.

That’s definitely a good idea, but I worry that I miss out on some good builds that way if there is a META build. Because the top of the leaderboard is generally going to be good drivers trying to get top of the leaderboard, they are going to go for the fastest build overall, but maybe they have 2-3 fast builds of other cars that are close but not META.

Personally, I’d love to see more leaderboard sorting options. Top times for individual car models (e.g. who has the fastest Gauntlet time in a Nissan Sentra), and a “car leaderboard” showing the fastest time from each model of car on that track.

I had the same issue with every truck I could find to adapt it for the Rivals S2 leaderboard.
Even the Mercedes G65 6x6 lets me only push it to 860 tops with offroad settings.
I am currently putting my hope into #25 Ford Brockie when I find a cheap one to update.

Currently I use one of Ford Mustangs (S2 938), the Hoonigan RS200 is S2 (970 even) offroad CC capable too, but it fullstops at every watercrossing and while it can jump, it cannot land (most of the time flipping over even when landing on all 4 wheels). Both have a maximum riding height of 20cm.

Most Rivals I saw so far in S2 drove the X5 M BMW.
I had used that one for the “win a dirt/cross country X999 accolade”, as you can fit it with Rallye -but not offroad- tires and also Rallye springs (max riding heigth 17cm) but I was not happy with it.
