S1yfa's Open Source Tunes - B Class M3 Double Domination Pack added!

OK, figured I would stick my nose in here at last and starting sharing some tunes. Everything that goes in this thread will also be available on my sharefront for those who want to get their wheels rolling as quick as possible (search gamertag: S1yfa).

A few notes, I drive with normal steering, no assists (except TCS in certain cars). Unless I specify, my tunes are all based on NO ASSISTS. That said, if you feel more comfortable with ABS on for example, the tunes should work just fine. If the build does not specify something (for example no mention of aero parts), then it doesn’t have it.

Click the car name to navigate straight to the tune:

D Class
'65 Mini Cooper Short Track LB

B Class
Double Domination Pack!
I use these two tunes almost exclusively in B Class lobbies and generally ruin the competition…

A Class
Ferrari F355 Berlinetta, No Aero, Stock Looking

S Class

R Class

First open source is for the F355 Berlinetta. Partially because I’m a huge Ferrari fanboy and partly because Mechberg just selected it as his new car, so I felt the urge too!

Car: Ferrari F355 Berlinetta
Class: A700
Specifics: Stock looking tune, no aero. General tune that works in most environments, not really a leaderboard car (X-Bow has A class pretty much wrapped up…) but I have put in some reasonable top 500 and better times in various locations including Catalunya and Silverstone.
Sharefront: File name “no aero grip”, search by gamertag “S1yfa”.

Build (sorry, this is a long one!):

Engine:
Race everything, EXCEPT Oil and Cooling, Camshaft and Displacement. Displacement should be Sport, the other two are stock.

Platform and Handling:
Race everything, EXCEPT Chassis Reinforcement which should be Sport.

Drivetrain:
Race everything.

Tyres and Rims:
Race compound, Max width front and rear.

Tune (in order of the games tuning screens):

Tyres:
28.0/28.0

Gears:
FD: 4.78
1st: 2.76
2nd: 1.88
3rd: 1.38
4th: 1.08
5th: 0.87
6th: 0.71 (although not really used)

Alignment:
-1.0/-0.7
0.2/0.0
5.7

ARBs:
16.92/17.66

Springs:
545.8/590.2
4.1/4.2 (don’t drop it any lower as it bottoms out under braking in certain corners)

Damping:
7.5/7.6
4.0/4.0

Aero:
N/A

Braking:
50%
125% (adjust to your preference, but I find this is the most efficient pressure)

Differential:
24%
57%

Have fun, and if you make any changes to the tune that fairs better results please share your inputs with us!

Next up is the #007 Aston DBR9. This car, although not as fast as the 312T round the corners, is pretty swift to say the least - I’m not using full downforce on this as the car has a lot of mechanical grip, so think of it a more of a speed tune. I still have a number of top 200 times from the first couple of weeks of FM5, all of which would have been attained in career mode races so I would say with a certain degree of confidence there are some top 100 times in this car. [EDIT: It now has top 100 times!] [EDIT 2: Make that top 50 - this car loves Top Gear!]

Car: #007 Aston DBR9
Class: R900
Specifics: General grip tune, works in most places, but doesn’t use full downforce so quick in a straight line. Good for Yas Marina especially. The car eats kerbs, attack like crazy!
Sharefront: File name “grip speed”, search by gamertag “S1yfa”.

USE TCS! Well, the car is perfectly drivable without if you have really good throttle control, but TCS on is definitely faster.

Build:
Nothing! Completely stock.

Car: '65 Mini Cooper
Class: D400
Specifics: Short track leaderboard tune. Although the build is the same for longer tracks, just adjust the FD to get a better top speed. 3.10 seems ideal. This car is weird to drive, you are at full throttle almost all the time, it just grips no matter how hard you push it. Tuned at Catalunya Short - sub 50s times if you get the line right through turns 3-4.
Sharefront: File name “lb short”, search by gamertag “S1yfa”.

Build:

Engine:
Race air, ignition, exhaust, valves, pistons. Street displacement.

Platform and Handling:

So I wanted to tackle the 458 Italia, as I saw a lot of people were complaining about it being undriveable. I loved the car in FM4, it was my most competitive and consistent S Class lobby car, so I was convinced it shouldn’t be such a handful in FM5.

Car: Ferrari 458 Italia
Class: S800
Specifics: General grip tune although avoid very bumpy circuits like Prague as it can become unsettled. Tuned WITHOUT TCS, you need to have an ounce of self control with the throttle but it’s pretty easy to drive. For sure you can run with TCS, and to be honest it’s probably recommended for online. This is not a leaderboard car for sure, although I ran 1:44 on Alps and 1:51 on Catalunya so it’s not exactly uber slow.
Sharefront: File name “no tcs grip”, search by gamertag “S1yfa”.

Build:

Engine:
Sport Exhaust

Chassis:
All race except roll cage

Drivetrain:
Race tranny and driveline

Tyres:
Race compound, max front and rear width. I left stock rims on as I like them, but you can shave off 3 pounds with BBS RE’s or another equal weight wheel.

Aero:
Forza front and rear

Tune:

Tyres:
28.0/27.5 (higher pressures will end up destroying the rubber after a lap or two, but the starting pressures are low so be cautious on the first couple of turns)

Gears:
FD: 4.90
1st: 3.05
2nd: 2.19
3rd: 1.62
4th: 1.25
5th: 1.01
6th: 0.83
7th: 0.70 (never used)
Just note if you do run without TCS, smash through the gears to 3rd when launching for the best start.

Alignment:

ARBs:

Springs:

Damping:
6.8/6.9
3.3/3.4

Aero:
227/200

Braking:
52%
135% (the 458 doesn’t have a brake upgrade option, and the stock brakes can be pushed hard. Increase this if you feel comfortable doing so - 150% is effective but easy to lock up)

Hi S1yfa,

Snagged the D class mini and took it round Catalunya School.
Bettered my time by 2secs and got into the mid 50’s and there is more in it for sure.

Back end wanted to come round on throttle lift, the first lap or two, but once I was a bit more gentle letting off the throttle the lap times just plummeted!

Will download a few more throughout the week and give them a run.

Good stuff!

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Fade. It means a lot coming from someone with your calibre!

Yes, my tunes unless specified are not really great for lobbies as the pressures are set to optimise after a few laps (which is normally a lap more than your average online race!) So the first couple of laps really are just to warm up as the rear can become quite excited.

The Mini specifically almost never wants to be at zero throttle - just keep a touch of gas applied into a turn to keep the diff happy and then mash it as soon as you can.

Car: 1991 BMW E30 M3
Class: B600
Specifics: All round lobby tune - this car works almost anywhere and everywhere. It’s not leaderboard fast (although not far short, I ran a 2:04.6 on Prague Full, good for around 290th). It has loads of grip, gets up to speed pretty quick, easy to drive and most importantly is easy to recover from a mistake or tap from another player. I use this car almost all the time in B Class hoppers, and I love B Class!

Car: 1991 BMW E30 M3
Class: B600
Specifics: Speed track lobby tune (not Le Mans!) based on my grip tune above - this car works best on tracks that have a lot of straights, like Catalunya GP. I ran a 2:00.7 which is around top 420. It’s a bit stiffer than the tune above to deal with the extra power, so cornering is a little slower. TCS on with this one may also be of benefit so you can get out of turns faster. Still easy to recover from mistakes and taps so great for online racing.
