Just thought I’d come here and vent my frustration with trying to gain any kind of useful information from watching replays.
The entire system is clunky as h**l, and i find myself asking, wait do i have to press A to go into this part of the menu? What changes this part of the interface? How do i do this if I’m in this part of the menu? Why can’t i free look with the right stick anymore? Let me just hit B…
…and now I’ve completely exited the replay i was just trying to watch. Now i have to search for the replay again, load it back up, try to figure out where i was before i accidentally backed out (due to lack of basic useful information like a current lap counter or position scoreboard display). It’s just…ugh.
Thought I’d post this here to hopefully drum up some votes so that maybe we can see some improvements to the replay system.
Vote to add a confirmation dialog box when exiting replays:
Navigating anything/everything in this game is so annoyingly slow & awkward that it seems the entire user experience was intentionally designed to constantly delay & frustrate players.
It’s ironic that this game won an award for its accessibility features accommodating the visually impaired while the game feels so terribly inaccessible for the unimpaired.
Haven’t used the replays. But I voted just the same. So many areas of this game need serious attention. It will be six years before they get it all sorted out at the current rate of updates and backsliding.
Maybe the best off idea for Microsoft at this point would be to sell off the Forza/Horizon franchise to EA or Code Masters or some other studio. And let another studio take it to the next level.
Sort of. It stops recording after the first dozen laps or so (possibly depending on how full the field is). I don’t do featured MP, but I’m guessing since most races there are pretty short, you wouldn’t run into problems.
I do mainly league races that run 30-40 minutes each, so we generally are only able to save and review about half of the race. Any incidents happen in the second half, we have to hope someone was streaming and caught it, or someone was able to think quick and capture a clip. Not exactly ideal.
Honestly, when I see how “ugh ” (which I think we can agree is the best descriptor for the UX) it is for shmucks like me, I don’t know how anyone who actually needs those features can ever navigate this game.
You can save and share replays now, but support won’t look at them. They’ll just reply with a generic “can’t do anything without a video” message, even though their own instructions for reporting a player state that the most accurate way to do so is by sharing a replay. I’m guessing it’s probably because the replays don’t display a timer or lap counter, so it would be very time consuming to try to find a reported incident.
