Just wondering if anyone could explain why everyone says not to use race tires for drifting? I’m an above average drifter and usually use stock or sport just because that’s what people said to use when i was learning how to drift and it became a habit to use them. I decided to start trying all the different tires and widths just to see what changes and it seems to me like using race tires really doesn’t make anything any better or worse.
I dont use race tires while drifting because it feels like race tires keep you for a moment when u hit throttle down and then launches you out of line. Less grip gives more stable slide and more important you will be able to lose grip at wider and faster curves.
I agree like I don’t feel or see a difference and usally when I hit the throttle I don’t spin. It just doesn’t make any sense to me why Race Tires are such a huge issue
Well I’ve done testing with the cars i drift the best with and have tried all the available tire choices and I really don’t see a difference at all. I like to keep race tires on my cars so I have grip for driving around. But there are people who will complain about the fact that my cars have race tires on and I don’t get it.
I have some with race tires. The only difference I’ve noticed is less under steer when doing higher speed drifting like in the jungle area. Also, and it’s hard to admit this, I like the look of the tire lettering
Well im a parking lot drift scrub so idk about the jungle sections lol, and the tire lettering can look cool with some builds and liveries, wish we could change the letters to tire brands or something else tho.
