PSA for all those trying to get Ultimate Passes / Perfect Passes in Forza Horizon

Super, quick easy way to farm these up if you’re like me and have all the Forza rewards for FH1 filled out except the perfect passes one.

You can only get these in races, so a good race to farm them is in the Carson Street Race Hub. The eighth race Desert Drag. Just select any old car you want. Obviously starting in 8th place is best for this; I don’t know if which car you select actually affects this. Also make sure the AI is set to easy of course.

There will be a few turns you do within the confines of some guard rails (slight right, harder right, left, very hard right, left, and then it opens up), but then (just as it opens up) the road turns hard right. All the AI will turn right, and then make a loop around to the left, but you can just go careening forward, carrying yourself right to the front. You’ll get 5-6 Ultimate passes at a time, as long as you’ve stayed at the back of the pack the whole time. Make sure to finish the race! or it won’t count. It usually takes me about 2:30 to finish the race though, so it’s no big deal.

EDIT: an easier way to explain it is go from the second blue light you see straight across to the third one you see, instead of around like the AI does.

Oh not to mention, all those ultimate passes add up for a huge amount of points if you’re still not 1st in popularity. I get ~10,000 each time.

Hope that helps! I know the rewards have been slow to update, but once you notice yours has bumped, you can go ahead and try this.

You can also do the freeway blast (second last selection) from the Red Rock Observatory. It’s an S class event, you can fly by them all and at about 60% stop and let them past again and get on the gas again. You can get a good 10 at least on a decent run. 50k credits and done in around 2.30 as well

I searched the internet over and I could never find anything beyond “near misses” which don’t count. But thanks for sharing lol.

Ive been trying to find a way to get a load of passes. I can get 15 ish per race!

Thanks!

I’m several years late on this amazing game, but I’m near 100% and have important information. There might be some other people out there who are trying to max out their Forza Hub Rewards Tier points before they start “Forza Motorsport 7” (I’m so excited!) and they likely are missing Ultimate-Perfect-Passes (same thing, 2 names) so I would like to thank this thread here for the initial suggestion, and then I wanna get into the crazy helpful details…
SHAKE & BAKE!!!

First, lets define the criteria for Ultimate-Perfect-Passes. It can only be earned in races, NOT in free-roam driving. Also, I do NOT think this skill is measured with proximity-distance from other cars while passing…

[SIDENOTE 1]

Ultimate-Near-Miss skills, a different thing NOT counted for the Forza Hub Rewards Tier points, is only earned in free-roam driving, and is based on: (1) proximity-distance from passing vehicle, (2) speed-differential between vehicles, (3) passing so closely & quickly that your airflow disturbs the airflow (air pocket? aero-bubble?) of the other vehicle, where you both hear a loud “WHOOSH!” sound that would scare the other driver.

This is why Ultimate-Near-Miss skills are best earned by finding a long straight-ish highway, getting up to crazy top-speeds with a maxed-out-parts hypercar like Lamborghini Sesto Elemento (any badass car should do, and just try not to hit cars. For the long straight-ish highway in FH1 Colorado, warp to SW area Media Center Outpost, go left and head SW to the highway, go under the overpass, make a left up the onramp to be heading SE onto the highway. Get up to crazy top-speeds, stay parallel in the lanes, and try to dodge cars cleanly, try not to die. The Ultimate-Near-Miss skills will come on their own. (So I suggest turning OFF the skills display on the HUD, cuz you need to focus while going 200+ MPH and dodging cars, and you dont need visual distractions. Check stats later.) When you get to the end of the highway, flip a U-turn, and repeat the process. But again, this skill is NOT related to Forza Tier points.

[END SIDENOTE 1]

Now, back to the stat that matters,
Ultimate-Perfect-Passes, which IS counted for the Forza Hub Rewards Tier points, you need 500 total. This skill can only be earned in races, NOT in free-roam driving. This skill appears to be based on: (1) speed-differential between vehicles while passing them in a race. That’s it. It doesn’t seem to measure proximity-distance while passing, or else the race idea suggested here (Carson Street Race “Desert Drag”) wouldn’t work, since it’s cheating by cutting the official course and going way off the driving-line, away from the other cars.

If you want to earn this skill more authentically, I took my beast of a Lamborghini Sesto Elemento to the R3-class “Lambo Presents BullRun” highway race up North, and did it a bunch of times. I try to get to the front of the pack as quickly & cleanly as possible, maybe earning 1-2 Ultimate-Passes, then I pull over to the side, brake, let the pack pass me, then from 8th-place I again try to get to the front of the pack as quickly & cleanly as possible, maybe earning 1-2 Ultimate-Passes, then I pull over to the side, brake, let the pack pass me, then from 8th-place I again… You got it. I can do this 3-4 times during 1 race, and still finish in a podium position, doesnt need to be 1st-place. I think I might get 5+ Ultimate-Passes per race this way. Then I warp & drive back to this event, do it again, etc.

However, I think the race mentioned here (Carson Street Race “Desert Drag”) which is cheating by cutting the course, does work quite well for racking up this much-needed skill-stat quickly. Thanks to original thread for the suggestion. Now let’s get into the crazy helpful details…

[SIDENOTE 2]

You need a B-class car, as lightweight & nimble as possible, with maximum grip. I recommend starting with the C-335 class Rally legend AWD 1992 Lancia Delta Integrale EVO. It needs to have the best stats for Launch, Acceleration, Handling, & Braking. The Speed stat is irrelevant here, which is why this little Turbo-Rally car works great. Do not add any power, it has enough. Go into Garage, and:
(1) max race-aero-kit
(2) wheel-rims, your choice
(3) widest tires
(4) race-tire-compound
(5) race-brakes
(6) race-springs
(7) race-anti-roll-bars
(8) race-chassis-reinforcement
(9) race-weight-reduction
(10) race-clutch
(11) RALLY-transmission
(12) race-driveline
(13) race-differential

Now you should be at B-476 (approx depending on your wheel-rim choice) and we’ve made a great little nimble racecar, and we still have room to add some power. But we are focusing primarily on reducing weight!! Do NOT add weight with intercoolers or oil/cooling parts, not worth the power. My only good options at this point were:
(14) sport-air-intake
(14) sport-fuel-system
(14) sport-ignition
(14) sport-valves
(14) sport-pistons

I was very close to these being options, going to A-501:
(14) race-intake
(14) race-valves
(14) sport-exhaust
I could have made them work by going back to sport-driveline, sport-clutch, narrower front-tires, etc. But I didnt want to sacrifice any of that. However, someone with different wheel-rim weight might be able to upgrade sport-exhaust, which is recommended cuz it reduces 16 pounds.

I chose (14) sport-air-intake and (15) race-flywheel, to reduce 10 pounds of stationary weight, and more importantly reduce 8 pounds of rotational inertia weight, which means quicker throttle-response & power-delivery.

When finished, I have a B-498 BEAST of a Turbo-Rally car.
2,398 lbs @ 57% front
217 HP, 232 Torque

My stats are:
Speed 3.6
Handling 9.2
Acceleration 7.1
Launch 8.5
Braking 9.8
NOT BAD FOR B-CLASS!!

[END SIDENOTE 2]

When the race starts, your AWD Launch should get you a few clean passes if you aim to the left-outside instead of running into the backs of the other cars. You can pass more people at the first slight-right-turn if you aim carefully, dont hit cars or guardrail, and might even get an Ultimate-Pass here before the first blue-light checkpoint (?). Get a few more passes, until the second blue-light checkpoint, then pull over to the side & brake, let the whole pack pass you. Now stay in 8th-place, and wait for the section where we cheat by cutting the course and going way off the official road driving line…

When you’re at 12% race progress, start looking to the left for the third blue-light-checkpoint, after the left-guardail disappears and you cross a road. The official racing road, driving-line, and therefore AI drivers, go right, makes a loop, makes another right, like an S-shape. You can cut straight thru that area, to the left of the tree (hard to see in dark), aiming for the left side of the warehouses, and go thru the blue-light-checkpoint, while racking up a few Ultimate-Passes.

Here you’re at 22% race-progress, before some medium-straights, so pull over to the left at the corner before the straights, brake & stop, let the pack pass you, then accelerate & try to get back to the front. Repeat this process 2-3 times per race. (Note: Let MOST of the pack pass you, but dont wait for 7th-8th place stragglers, or you’ll be too far behind everyone else.)

The key here is to always be aiming for the INSIDE-CORNERS, where cars with stupid-easy-AI are programmed to go wide around the corner in an official driving line, and while they are braking for that turn, you aim INSIDE and go flying past them, without hitting them or the wall. This task is easier if you have a lightweight & nimble car with maximum aero-grip, like the Rally legend AWD 1992 Lancia Delta Integrale EVO.

If you mess up and dont score Ultimate-Passes in a place where you think you shouldve been able to, then Rewind a few times, and try that section again. Aim for inside-corners, dont hit cars, dont hit walls, and you’ll get some Ultimate-Passes.

At 62% race-completion, there’s a sharp left before a long straight to the finish-line. Here is a choice.
(A) Zoom towards the finish-line, enjoy your 1st-place victory $$.
(B) Pull over & brake, let the pack pass you, then accelerate thru the inside of the corner, & try to get back towards the front, for maybe a podium finish with less $, but with possibly more Ultimate-Passes.
Choice is yours, both are fine.
Either way, now replay that same “Desert Drag” street-race, repeat all the same strategies, until your stats screen shows 500 Ultimate-Passes.

Hope this helps someone.
SHAKE & BAKE!!!

I’m late to the party: once the skill is counted in stats, it doesn’t go away… even if you rewind. I just used the strategy you guys said, but after getting the 8 ultimate passes (and making sure they were added pausing, going to My Profile>Stats>Skills) I just rewinded until before passing any car, and passed them again. Rewind and repeat until getting the 500. Then finished the race, went back to freeroam, checked the stats and… yup, all 500 were there!

^^Wow, that is awesome advice. I’ll try and punch these out later today.

Does this still update? Ive had loads of perfect passes in the past and it hasnt updated for me. Same with miles driven. The ingame counter has been well over the rewards limits for over a year now, but rewards havent updated.

It’s been working for me for the past week. I’ve gotten almost 150 doing them this way. They have to be done in races, not “Ultimate Near Miss” which is done in free roam.
