Is there a way to play with only one friend in a private lobby ? When i want to start racing with him i get message that there is not enough players. So i can’t figure it out how to play together. What is the minimum requirement of people for a race to start ?
I wish I could give you and answer but I wanted to comment just to put your mind at ease that I too am having the same issue. I dont have an answer and cant seem to find one. After at least 2 hours of [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D] around in the race settings trying to get it going we gave up. The ONLY thing i can think of, based on a lot of others peoples concerns, is that this game being kind of early access for only ultimate edition purchasers, most of the multiplayer and online functionality is limited until tuesday when the game goes live for everyone?? thats only a guess at this point so dont qoute me. I hope things get turned around for the better as I will be pretty upset if you cant race a friend in 1 v 1 online. I would also really like drivatar AI for multiclass races as that is what we spent 2 hours trying to set up all to find out we needed more than 2 real players to even get it going. hopefully this comment will bump your question back up and get a few more opinions on the matter.

Yeah, I would really love to hear something about the multiplayer, cause its kind of really annoying how restricted it is atm. When it launches properly, will we get PI class hoppers? I really want to race my cars online, but it is literally impossible thanks to the horrid type class restrictions.
Seems like to need at least 2 players in the “outer lobby” to start a private session.
So start multilplayer, then invite your friend. When they are showing in the player list then try starting private game. Not sure if theres another obstacle beyond this though because when I tried it friday night I was unable to create a room and instead got a “failed to create server” error (or some such).
Not sure why you need to have other players to start a private game - you didnt in previous FM games. Infact you could even race a MP race on your own provided you added some AI cars.
It seems reasonable to want to start a lobby and set it up whilst waiting for friends to join.
