Post your Vintage Trans Am series car photo

Hello I have always loved the SCCA Trans Am series. I would like for people to post their designs of cars from the series. Cars must be from the 1966 - 1972 seasons. Your car can be from the A or B class. Please tell about the car driver ect… Also put your gamer tag so that other people can enjoy your hard work of your design too!

Thanks,

Alpha Tide

Dan Spiegel’s 1966 Nova ( chevy II ).

Raced in the SCCA Trans Am series A class / over 2 liters

This is one of the two Novas that raced in the Trans Am series.

Dan’s Nova was raced only once and it was at Road America in 1970…

Nice stuff mate, we need another one of these retro guys. Good stuff and I like the Nova, although you might want to increase the size of your picture.

The Trans-Am series was phenomenal and I unfortunately have yet to paint a Trans-Am car but here is the closest I got. ATCC Ford Mustang driven by Allan Moffat.

And an Old Camaro that I think raced in Trans-Am. You might know better though.

Cheers, Ace

Hi Ace. Thanks for posting some design photos. I have seen that same paint scheme on a 1968 Camaro. The driver was D i c k Lang. I think I have seen a picture of a 1969 Camaro with the design but not sure. If so I can’t say weather or not it was the same driver. As for the other two designs I don’t know about them but they look good. Also fixed the photo size but its not the same photo as before.

Sorry I had to space the “D” word in the driver name so it would not block it…lol

#86 Sunoco Camaro Z-28, as it was raced in the 1972 season of the SCCA’s Trans-Am Championship by D. Brown, for Don Duncan Chevrolet of Canada.

#51 Gulf Boss 302, repli/original. I made it for myself as if it would have raced in the SCCA’s Trans-Am.

I have another T/A car, will post soon.

Nice job. I know the Old #86 well. The version you painted is the current version of the car. The car looked similar in 72 but to my knowledge Sunoco was never on the quarter panel until the last repaint. In 72 it was on the front down spoiler. Camaros.org has some good pictures of it. Last time I talked to the current owner of the car he was thinking of selling it.

I love that picture by the corkscrew, really nice mate!

Good stuff, keep it up!

I could not resist doing another T/A style Stang. I don’t think something like this ever raced, though.

I’ve been a fan of the 455 since it was introduce as a DLC back in FM2.

Nice Firebird mate!

Your right HydroTalon that body style Mustang was never in the 66-72 season. The Firebird has a late 60’s Jerry Titus paint scheme on it other than the number. Jerry did race a Firebird that body style ( # 8 ). Jerry was killed in the car on the track at Road America.

I keep making cars for me and not “shearing” them, LoL.

This one is more of a SCCA BP class Mustang.

Well, I don’t have any FM5 T/A paints but have a few FM4 ones that I’m pretty proud of just because of how much work went into them.

Currently, I am working on however, a replica Trans Am paint job in FM5 that I have the pleasure of doing for the original “real race car” owner’s daughter (the driver/owner passed away). I am in communication with her about its progress and as soon as I’m done I’ll share the design and post it here.

I’m also a HUGE Trans Am racing fan and love it when it gets any recognition so I’m glad that you started this thread Justin.

Glad you could make it. Can’t wait to see you design when you are done. I have seen the work in progress photos and it’s looking great.

For the ones that doesn’t know RaceGameNut he is the most accurate replica painter I have ever seen. Some may know him from the Mark Donohue 1969 Sunoco Camaro from Forza 4 and Forza 3. I’m sure you may have saw it in the most downloaded. Be on the watch for this guys designs!

I am glad there is another vintage livery lover with us! Welcome RaceGameNut. As for you Hydro, very nice Mustang! Clean and simple as always, but with excellent logo work!

Jim Whelan’s 1966 mustang. Raced in 1967 season. I designed the car as it looks now in the Historic Trans Am series. The design is on Forza 5 designed by me ( Alpha Tide ). Enjoy!

Nice Mustang mate! Keep up the good work.

Sorry for the double post boys. I have another Trans-Am paint. This one is from Jim Hall. The Chaparral Camaro from the 1970 Trans-Am season. Enjoy!

I will say you are the first person that I have seen that put the safety cord on the door. This was one of the few cars that had this. Great attention to detail.

All great paints, love some historic T/A cars. Ace, that Camaro is flippin gorgeous - shared?
