Possiblity of electric cars?

The thought of going 200+ in a car barely generating any sound at all…sounds quite interesting, right? In FH3 we had a Tesla electric car, but it didn’t really seem to shine anywhere in the game. I think it’d be nice if the devs would consider making cooler, faster electric cars for the players to enjoy, like the Nio EP9. I’d expected to see something like this in the Asphalt game series, but would be pretty cool to see in Forza.

It’s something I’ve always found so fascinating, that an electric car would have such capabilities as this: Nio EP9 vs Pagani Zonda R - Nurburgring - The Rise of Super EV - YouTube This is a video showing a single lap time for the Nio EP9 vs a Pagani Zonda R - a trending favorite across all Forza titles that have this car. However, being an electric car, it lacks top speed, so it wouldn’t be fully overwhelming, unlike the MC12 FE, which is literally, from what I’ve seen, the most OP car in the game.

Forza does have it’s diversity in whether a car races on dirt or paved roads, or perhaps across rolling hills and grassy planes. However, there’s always been the lack of electric cars. Why whouls we, when there’s top selling brands, such as Bugatti, McLaren and Lamborghini? Especially the Senna…the new, high-performance, not-so-great-to-look-at, hey-bro-I-can-see-your-legs, track car. I see so many of them on the track, but never really in the podium. It’s biased.

Imagine the starting grid full of air-polluting gas-guzzlers, then…the electric car shows up. With sleek lines, thin LED headlights, thin tire profiles and glossy fiberglass, seeming to not even make a sound under the noise of the racing V12 engines.

The matter of the fact is that electric cars are unloved, underappreciated and, really nobody blinks at eye at them, till they show up. Others, like the Renault DeZir. nanoFowcell Quantino, nanoFlowcell Quant FE. The Nio especially for its high performance capabilities. Such as setting the new Nurburgring lap time record for 2017 with a time of 6:45.9s, It is now the 2nd fastest lap time, with the fastest being held by the McLaren P1 LM.

Here’s a link to the website I got my information from: https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/best-cars/86123/fastest-nurburgring-lap-times-2018-quickest-cars-and-lap-records

Also being a road-legal car, this proves that electrics should have their own share in the world of virtual racing and what better gaming series than Forza to show it?

For some general info on this car, here’s a link to another site, which gives you a visual behind-the-curtains experience of different aspects of the car: NIO - EP9

To me, cars like these will always be; Quietly brilliant.

This would look incredible in the car wishlist thread, which is what this is, a wishlist.

This isn’t quite a wishlist, this is more of a suggestion of a general idea of a type of car to be added, nothing specific. I merely chose the world’s fastest electric car as means for doing so.

You’re not wrong. I’ve often thought it would be fun to have a whole class of EVs or even EV conversion options for conventional cars in the game. Maybe bring in some Formula E cars from the main franchise.

Especially with the renewed focus on drag racing. One of the places EVs really show their stuff compared to combustion engines is delivering all their torque off the line.

Nice elevator pitch, too.

It would also be nice for some cars like the BMW i8, McLaren P1, Porsche 918 and Ferrari LaFerrari to have the feature to switch between their hybrid modes. This would be awesome because now the BMW i8 is stuck in hybrid mode (engine and motor) which you can tell by the orange LED lighting on the dashboard.

I was looking forward to the inclusion of this feature in FH4, but i guess not all requested features will be added into the game.

Because many people who play racing games are “geartards”, that is, people who latch onto gas-powered engines and manual transmissions in a borderline fanatical way. These people hate on anything electric and are among the causes of used manual cars having had their prices grossly and undeservingly inflated.

It depends on the electric car, really. Something with gears for me to change would be better than something like the Tesla Model S or even the Regera. I’m used to not change gears in futuristic racing games, but not in games like Forza.

I don’t know. I’m not in charge of their marketing department, so I don’t know the demographic breakdown.

I may be a statistical outlier, but I’m not even remotely a “car guy” or a gearhead or whatever. You know; the kind of guy who can tell you the make and model from 100 yards down field by the shape of the headlights. (I actually know a guy who can do that.) It’s just not something that interests me. I can barely remember what car I’m driving in-game from one moment to the next.

Which makes it all the more shocking that Forza has dominated my gaming over the past year or so. And part of what did it for me was the partnership that Forza had with Formula E a couple years back, and the inclusion of Formula E cars in FM6.

I am a tech guy. And electric cars just seem to fall right into that intersection of cutting-edge tech and innovation that get my attention.

Electric cars are unfair in the game and pretty stupid since there is no downside. If they put them in the game they need to make them overheat and run out of charge after 10 minutes like they do in real life when pushed hard.

Not true. The Nio EP9 has insane handling - great for tracks, but a lower top speed. In the video I shared, the Pagani was catching the Nio on the straights. The McLaren P1 was a very close match in another video. But, then there’s cars like the LaFerrari, Agera RS, that would easily smash it.

Just make it a Nissan Leaf then.

Their main downside is that they trade off top speed for acceleration. They’re not fast, but they’re quick. They deliver all their torque as soon as you put the peddle down, and can waste a conventional engine off the line. But they don’t have the top speed of an internal combustion engine.

i’m sure the sound department would stuff them up by copy pasting one of there generic petrol engine sounds on them  All jokes aside most people would just v12 swap the electric cars anyway

I suspect the analysis of past games show very few people driving the Tesla and not many calling for that or any other electric cars to be in FH4. I suspect that’s due mostly to the lack of sound and lack of tuning options for such cars. Then I would guess, that when you take away the real life advantages of electric cars such as tax breaks, being cheap to run and producing less pollution (which have no relevance in a game), in a world without consequence 99% of car lovers would rather have something mechanical with an engine.
