Porsche pack is a MAJOR Disappointment

Where to begin,

I’m sitting here typing this talking to two friends that are encouraging this, basically with the same story as me, both “real life” Porsche tuners and Forza Fans.

First! I have been a Forza fan for a long time, while my profile may not show it, I’ve been playing Forza for what must be nearly 10 years now. Forza 4 stands out by far to me as it was and still is a great game. I remember the Porsche pack coming out for that, a week later I had my first Fanatec wheel, pedals and shifter, I even convinced a few of my buddies to get the same setup, it was a blast, it’s as fun playing online as karting in real life. Being a big Forza fan, I’m an even bigger Porsche fan. It started about 15 years ago, My father and I restored a 71 911T. We took the stock 2.4S and converted it toa 2.5ST motor and stuck it in. What a blast of a car it is, I caught the bug hard and wanted to do something like that myself when I got older, only bigger and faster. A few years back I stepped it up and bought an 87’ 930 with the intentions of building it into a monster 934. 2016, I’ve done just that and have a decent collection of Porsche motorsport junk around. As the days grew shorter in the fall last year I thought I’d get the Forza Xbox One bundle to hold me over until spring. The snow and salt keep our cars off the streets up here. I saw the rumor of a Porsche pack and I’m not going to lie, I’ve been pretty excited ever since, checking the forum regularly.

The Porsche pack started to look like a sure thing, I went out and bought new Fanatec gear, V2 Base, XBOX One hub. I took the Momo Mod S from my 934 and stuck it on, even got the new metal SQ shifter and had it machined to fit a 935 shift knob as I wanted it to feel like I’m in a car. I’ve spent quite a bit of time to get it to feel half decent in game, taking the time to compare everything to real cars, it’s pretty close, I’m certainly happy with it. Though I feel the force feedback leaves something to be desired it’s not the worst as some make it out to be. Now the only thing I was worried about was what cars are they going to put in the game. I saw a post, 9 new cars to XBOX one, certainly there would be one that would make me happy?!

The pack came out today as you all know, the car list leaving lots to be desired. Now I know what you’re thinking and I want you to STOP and hear me out, I won’t turn this into a car wishlist, we all know from reading the other threads what people were expecting. Without batting an eye, I went directly to the 930 without even looking at the other cars. What I wasn’t expecting was recycled garbage, seriously, the 930 and some of the other exterior models look like they were pulled from FM4 last night and added new shaders, is this a joke? I realize 3D engines and some details were added and that’s fantastic but these cars do no compare to the cars that came with the game. Drive a yellow 996 GT3, you’ll feel like you’re playing FM4. There aren’t even any new mods, its all the same bumpers and skirts and spoilers from the other games. There are endless amounts to Porsche body mods for these cars, I have more real body pieces in storage than are included in this “expansion”. BIG SIGH, back to the car list.

Wait a second, where are these 9 new cars, 1, 2, 3, but the 9 that are supposed to be new to XBOX One… where… I count 3. The other ones were all in Forza, just previous versions. So this is the second time I’ve bought a 962 and the third 930 and that goes for a few others? That’s shady advertising if you ask me, and that really P’s me OFF. So, 3 new cars, they all have their own cool factor, but this is a motorsport game and you left out the heart of Porsche, 70’S & 80’S RACING CARS. Someone else stated maybe it’s hard to get these cars to model them, sounds etc. What a joke, the owners of these old racers are mostly NICE PORSCHE ENTHUSIASTS like the rest of us. They would very much love to have their car used as a study / model for the game. Hell, my 934’s not perfect being a clone but it talks the talk and walks it, i would have gladly let T10 use it, I might of paid someones plane ticket and lunch to come record it just so I can say they used my engine for sound samples.

I don’t want to be all negative, the events added to the game are great, but it doesn’t make up for the other short comings. This is hard, I don’t want to rip my favorite game apart, but seriously…so much hype… and I could keep going… WHAT HAPPENED… AWFUL

So much hype??? I don’t think they’ve even mentioned it since last year until today.

What also found odd is you seem to have a major problem with the cars in the pack and yet you bought the pack anyway!?!?!? And you ran out and bought a $1000 wheel, Xbox One, machined down parts etc to build a cockpit based on nothing but rumors? And furthermore, if you ran out to buy the XBox One, wouldn’t all the cars from the Horizon 2 be new to you as well???

Honestly, your rant doesn’t make a lot of sense on a lot of different levels

In regards to the nine cars that you say are “supposed to be new to Xbox One”, uh, they are? They haven’t appeared in the Xbox One era of Forza until now, so I’m not sure what you’re complaining about there.

I didn’t have a problem buying these cars, I figured they would have updated the models. It wasn’t until I bought them I realized they haven’t really been brought up to par with the rest of the in game graphics. As for FH2, I bought it on my brothers console before I had my own. FH has never really interested me, just wanted to drive some Porsches.

I have to agree with the OP about the lack of interesting Porsches included in this $20 pack. They really could have done without the SUV’s…I mean really. This is a “racing game” not a “take the kids to soccer practice game” Also, I’m sorry …but nobody wants a 944 turdbo. In real life you might settle for a poor man’s Porsche but this isn’t real life and we want to spend millions of credits on the holy grails of motorsport. A slew of 70’s/80’s race cars would have been extremely exciting. It’s unfortunate too because they could have done so with minimal effort since the 911 body base was the same through the 70’s and 80’s. They could have kit bashed a bunch of sweet 911’s together with one or two bases and added different bumpers and tail out the wazoo. I won’t accept the excuse of " oh that wouldn’t be authentic and Forza quality standards blah blah blah" …they put ONE classic air cooled 911 in the pack and it’s 1982 930 that has 5 gears…that was in Forza 4…it’s a disappointing $20 update.

Im guessing that turn 10 must be pretty upset that they couldnt consult with everyone so that everyone could get every car they ever wanted…
