Waited 6 years, not waiting ANOTHER 6
I’m not only wanting the game to succeed, I’m willing to help in any way I can. Doesn’t appear anyone from T10 really wants help though outside of putting ideas into a suggestions graveyard where no one goes and good ideas can just fade away.
I wonder if T10 wants the game to succeed or fail? Maybe they want it to fail to justify shutting down the xbox system and shifting the MS Game Studios over to the Playstation system?
They’ve been working on this series for more than 18 years.
They’ve been working on this installment for the past few years.
They’ve been working on post-launch support for the past few months.
Four titles in a row in this series have seen reductions in features, little (or nothing) new & innovative added, declining sales, deteriorating quality, worsening customer satisfaction, and shrinking player engagement.
The Suggestions Hub is a graveyard full of buried ideas.
What they’ve delivered goes against so much of the feedback they’ve received over the years.
It seems like they’ve effectively crowd-sourced much/most of the game’s testing to paying customers.
How much longer and how many more chances should they get?
Just got finished watching a Youtube video showing two well know Xbox influencers walking back the outrage. Both seemed to suggest that most Xbox players are overreacting and may feel “silly”, as one person tweeted.
This now has a lot of people paying attention to Xbox’s announcement next week.
This was what I was thinking as well.
This whole thing about Xbox relinquishing their exclusivity would actually be good for them. If they then turned around and offered a buyback program for series consoles to repurpose them for Gamepass streaming servers.
Ideally they dont pull a Windows Phone and just nuke the entire division completely.
Well the key words is “good for them”. Xbox hardware going belly up doesnt help the people that have invested thousands of dollars into its ecosystem. It also wouldnt help gamers in general if sony had no competition.
They had a great chance in the beginning of this console generation but squandered it. The series x is technically more powerful and the series s was cheaper than the ps5, but they had no games. They also chose to believe game pass was the future which it clearly isnt. Theyre not reaching their target subscriptions and on top of that the game pass model has negatively effected the quality of their games. Fm8 is a perfect example.
Influencers? What are they? So glad I don’t spend a lot of time on YouTube. A little Pink Floyd, some more Fleetwood Mac, and some Eagles. I’m properly influenced after that.
No it’s Influenza’s and they are an illness that plagues the internet!
Linky? please
Well I actually considered that. If I were Phil. Id have the buyback program pay them half what they paid for the console. And then a free year of gamepass. Meaning theres all the games they would have played anyway on it.
I realize this isnt ideal for customers. But thats the best Microsoft would or could ever do for a buyback.
I dont believe the gamepass has effected the quality of the games nearly as much as you think. The battlepass was present before gamepass existed. In fact. I would say the gamepass is the only thing that allowed them to justify these years of delaying flagship releases that everyone always complains about not allowing the studios to delay the game for. (Which I dont agree with anyway).
That’d be an absolutely nonsensical Business decision, why would they buy hardware that they’re not going to reimplement into the ecosystem?
What? What ecosystem? They already use xbox’s to power their game streaming. It would literally just be them reusing their consumer consoles to redistribute the game service as a monthly payment.
The server ecosystem at Microsoft.
They use custom made XSX hardware, they aren’t using consumer hardware, not to mention that both A. They’d have a few million XSXs lined up if they ever did a buyback program and B. That this hardware is unlikely to last another two years.
Im talking about Microsofts own games what little of them there are. Forza horizon 5 is pretty much the only successful one. I dont count starfield because that was already in production before game pass or their buyout was even a thought.
Microsoft would never ever buy back any consoles, no company would. The multiplatform thing wouldnt be a short term issue, but in the long term it would just negate any reason to own an xbox console which would lead to the end of xbox consoles. Which in turn would end support for existing consoles and the games played on them.
Its not like when sega decided to pull out from consoles, the consoles and games still worked. This new gaas craze creates games that require online connections. Look at fm8, if servers were shut down, even if they allowed an offline mode, what kind of game are you left with. Forza horizon 5 would also be pretty useless in an offline mode.
Game pass is a great deal but i dont think it helps gaming as a whole. It also doesnt generate money the same way sales do especially for first party titles. It may allow people to try games they may not have spent money on, but it also allows people to give up on games much easier than if they paid.
Oh no, Im not saying it will. Really the only thing I hope out of this is that it encourages PS to push more of their first party to the PC.
Yes. but the idea of a monthly paying customer makes shareholders froth at the mouth like rabid animals.
But the only product xbox has made thats compelling to me is this
Subscriptions do get them excited, until they see the fact that the program doesnt pay for itself. Phil already stated theyre not hitting their targets and its not sustainable. And tbh shareholders probably dont pay much attention to the xbox division like that its not particularly profitable its more about the exposure it brings to a younger demographic.
Maybe making good games might give them a better reputation.
Hahahaha. aahh. Naah.
Hahaha that xbox “fridge” took out last years shonky award as it couldn’t even cool a can of drink!
Choice 2023 Shonky Awards
Uses as much electricity to do nothing as AFK’ing
For those that TL;DR the rundown is
"With “carbon aware” software updates and a number of options to make your console gaming more energy-efficient, Microsoft has been at the forefront of a number of initiatives designed to lower the carbon footprint of video games.
Which makes it all the more ironic that a ‘fridge’, designed to look like its video game console, is so energy-hungry.
Pretty shonky if you ask us."
Holds 10 Cans, uses more power than a full size fridge, kinda like CXP
Didn’t know they made a second fridge
*10 Australia-spec cans
*8 Aussie or 12 US
Or 6 Aussie and 4 RedBulls
I bought one at a garage sale for 5 bucks or (3.26US)
Yeah 8 Aussie is not great, i think most of the world uses cans based on American sizes though (unless Aussie cans are American cans)
In my search to find something about that though, i learned about self-cooling cans, don’t know how far they’ve got outside of trials at various stores, cool physics idea nonetheless
