Petition to make all past Series available when FH4 reaches End of Life

When Forza Horizon 3 reached End of Life, they released the perpetual “Into the Horizon” festival playlist. Which is a simple playlist with 4 linear, unremarkable tasks (e.g., perform 1000 x stunts).

With Forza Horizon 4, you can look back (or forward) on past series/future seasons, and the only thing preventing you from playing them is the date, which time-bounds their availability to you.

I propose that instead of introducing a single EoL playlist like FH3, that Playground Games simply remove the date restriction to allow players to pick and choose which Series they want to play. There are some obvious caveats: Certain live service components that may not be supportable (Trials, PG Games, Daily or Weekly challenges) that would require re-engineering that Playground might not be willing to incur the cost to change and test (fair enough), but there is still about half of each playlist that is purely single player. Anyone who has lost internet will notice the items that still work when you have no internet; specifically the Showcase Remixes, stunts and championships.

So being completely realistic of Playground’s resource commitments, I think it would be a reasonable ask to unlock all play lists “as is”, with the live service components overlaid by a “no longer available” stamp. There’s a long list of things which could sweeten the experience of course (enable some challenges to be offline like photos, Dailies and Weeklies, add the additional prize cars that will be hitherto unobtainable in an offline system), but I believe this one simple allowance by removing the time-boxing of Series would preserve a huge chunk of the FH4 experience well beyond its support life.

It’s very feasible that Forza Horizon 5 is the last game in the series and that they start milking money from remastered versions of FH 1-3.

Good idea. But they are so lazy and afraid of the cost of changing anything “without breaking other stuff”.
You can tell how they are recicling lists and totally not caring about it breaking other stuff.

FH3 “Into the Horizon” playlist made me sad. What they did right was have a championship for every course on the map.

If they could unlock a championship for each course plus change them with the seasons in FH4 that would give it a lot of replay value.

The livestream preview for series 49 showed the online tab saying series 55. That should get us to Nov - Dec. So my guess is that’s the last series unless they have another update.

Read my mind :frowning:

It’s not about laziness. It’s a business and they have to invest their time based on competing priorities, hence I’m mindful of not requesting a wholesale overhaul of the old Series playlists, but a minor change in accessibility.

My request/proposal is about opening up what I perceive to be the parts of old Series with the least need for developer time. My (albeit uninformed) assumption is that half the playlist items work without needing a connection to Forza servers, so would not require significant developer or tester time to remove the date restriction. If other parts could be made to work offline as well then cool, but I’m not expecting significant developer time that their business demands be spent on their current titles.

That is a pretty neat idea… that being said those who worked to obtain all the cars will be fairly disappointed. Though if i get a 2nd chance for the po db11 (only car i am missing 1st owner) I am definitely going to take it!

I have obtained all the cars (all but about 8 of them I’ve earned as the original owner), and would love others to have the opportunity to earn them too, or to re-live/play old playlists. Why should people feel entitled to keep cars from other players? No one is owed exclusive playlists.

Either that or they could simply make all cars available to buy in Autoshow with in game credits like they did in FM7.

Right now it’s looking like they’re going to keep the cycle going with past Series running again.

…when FH4 reaches End of Life ? It’s felt like it did… months ago ? So many things not working. No apparent interest from the dev side. etc.

I haven’t really played it in weeks because I find little to no point or reason when things are so obviously broken and neglected. I fired it up today and before it had even loaded I was wondering why the heck I bothered. Habit. I guess. Looked around briefly, same issues apparently, quit. I can’t imagine wanting to play it again unless a lot changes. And soon.

I almost said wth and deleted it this morning, not to save space, just to remove one more annoying reminder of what used to be. But I hesitated on the off chance next series sees a miraculous turnaround and restoration of function. Figured I’d save myself redownloading it all on the long odds that happens. If it is the still same in a couple weeks it’ll probably go.
