Per event leaderboards need to be brought back as they were in earlier games. The leaderboards now include times for the “story” and set events along with hot lap times. There is no way you can compare a time from an event with that of hot lapping.
Having an event specific leaderboard gives you something to aim at if you want to improve and to see how good you are.
