PC simulator advice

Hi guys,

I have a Fanatec CSW V2 setup and at the minute I only use it for FM6 and As fun as it is I don’t feel like I’m getting the best out of my equipment. Recently I have been thinking about getting a PC setup but my knowledge is lacking when it comes to PC’s.

What would I need to be able to enjoy a quality PC setup for the likes of Iracing, Assetto corsa etc? Money is tight so would like to try and purchase a second hand setup from eBay. I’m based in the UK if that’s any help.

Thanks in advance.

really depends what you intend on playing at at what settings.

Currently I have a
ram - 8GB (x2)- G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-8GBXL - Newegg.com
gpu Nvidia gtx 660ti - http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-2048MB-Graphics-02G-P4-3660-KR/dp/B008S15X3W
cpu - I5 3.8 ghz? - Intel Core i5-4460 - Core i5 4th Gen Haswell Quad-Core 3.2 GHz LGA 1150 84W Intel HD Graphics 4600 Desktop Processor - BX80646I54460 - Newegg.com
SSD - Samsung 250gb - SAMSUNG 850 EVO 2.5" 250GB SATA III 3D NAND Internal SSD - Newegg.com
Hdd - WD 3TB - WD Green 3TB IntelliPower 3.5" Internal HDD - Newegg.com
Asus - motherboard - Error Page No Item Found AztekComputers (got a really good deal on this, you don’t need to go with this pricey of a mobo)
NVGA 600W power supply - http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-Bronze-100-B1-0600-KR-Power-Supply/dp/B00EON40CS

and i run iracing on almost max settings on a single monitor, however you will need a better and/or 2 decent video cards for triples for iracing, but not for assetto etc.

Basically you are going to want a minimum of:

Ram: 8gb
gpu: GTX650 or better (660, 970 etc) - first number designates the series second number is level. For example 850 is similar power but its 2 series newer than 650. or an equivelant amd card
CPU - i5 or i7 - or equivelant amd processor
SSD - definitely worth having doesnt matter what size, depends on what you intend to install and run from it. For instance windows and whatever sim you choose to install. Can get away with 80gb
HDD - depends how much storage you want, a 1tb hdd isnt that expensive anymore and will probably be more than you really need
Motherboard needs to be compatible with and have the proper ports and pin sets you need and whatever add ons you want to run such as a disk drive, dvd drive, etc.
Power supply - with enough power to power your unit sufficiently, unless you buy older inefficient power management hardware than 500W should also have you covered

Note: You are probably going to get a cheaper build by using AMD products over intel/nvidia

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately that literally means nothing to me lol.

I will have a Google to find out what it all means. I’m hoping to go on eBay and just buy one already built. What sort of price range would I be looking at to get a similar spec PC in used condition?

You are probably looking at like $800. The links attached are the prices for the parts.
