Opinions on the Thrustmaster Vibration GT Cockpit (Ferrari 458 Italia Edition)...

Hey guys, I am thinking of picking this up at the end of the month, has anyone owned one of these for a year at least? If so, how was the durability/quality?

Here is one for sale where I live: http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/thrustmaster-thrustmaster-ferrari-vibration-gt-cockpit-4460096-4460096/10253240.aspx?path=5cf9fbc24031a6e2e3ab6c238840509cen02

I don’t have the money for a Fanatec wheel and pedals.

If $316 is the price you are willing to pay for the TM Vibration Cockpit then you have more than enough to purchase a Fanatec set up.

Um, last time I checked, a Fanatec CSR wheel, pedals and CSL stand would have cost me $369.95 plus $210.00 shipping to Canada, for a total cost of $579.85. Without taxes.

$579.95 - $316.00 means that I would be saving $263.95, money that I would rather keep in my pocket instead. Is the Fanatec really “that” much better?

You said that you didn’t have enough money for a wheel and pedals, so that is why I typed what I did… you neglected to mention that you would also require a stand.

The Fanatec CSL value bundle costs $249.

Is a wireless, true FFB, multi-platform wheel with many options for onboard tuning coupled with an adjustable 3 pedal set up… which can also be upgraded/added to modularly “that” much better than a vibration cockpit… yes, it certainly is.

Just trying to help, no bubbles have been burst whatsoever… cheers.

That was my fault. Sorry for the confusion. Thanks for your input. I shall think about it for a while.

And it was my fault that I hadn’t noticed that you are located in Canada, so have to pay high shipping costs etc… my apologies.

If you’re serious about racing with a wheel on FM4/X360 there really is no comparison between a good quality FFB wheel and a vibration model, the difference is night and day. The Fanatec also clamps to a desk/table etc, so you wouldn’t need a stand if you have a suitable platform at home.

All the best and good luck with your future purchase.

Honestly, the only thing that is stopping me from buying a Fanatec wheel setup is their exorbitant shipping costs. Apparently they were a lot less a couple of years ago for Canadian buyers. Oh well.

Again, thanks for the advice.

EDIT:

I just found this Madcatz Wireless FFB Wheel for $100 bucks less and free shipping from Amazon.ca: http://www.amazon.ca/Wireless-Force-Feedback-Racing-Wheel/dp/B0057OW94E

Looks tempting, especially for the price. Hmmm…

Don’t do it,JUNK!

Haha, thanks for letting me know. I watched a Youtube video of one in action and was turned off immediately.

Listen to this guy,he knows his stuff!
