Online lag and cheats...

Has anyone else been in an online game with platinum starred players that seem to easily win every race? I keep reporting said players thru XB Live whether that seems to be doing any good. They are platinum star tho their XB profile shows a gamerscore of 50-100. Never usually much more.

The giveaway to these cheats is the ever present lag while racing. Eg. You are racing normal then out of nowhere it’s as if the whole game has slowed, it is still playable for a few seconds and then the inevitable catch up where you go from what feels like 30mph to 300mph into a barrier then the cheater goes from 20 yards ahead to 200. It’s frustrating as hell and I’m getting bored of H3 because of it.

Is it just me, surely not with the Forza community as big as it is? Also would these the PC gamers? H2 I never experienced a single cheat/hacker but this is full of them

I haven’t seen this myself, but I have on occasion seen a player join an in progress adventure and go from last to first in xp just from travelling to destination. Usually getting like 50k xp from one trip.

I had that happen to me once but I was the one that went from just joining when the adventure started and went to first before the first event with like 30,000 xp, but that was because I happened to join with the luck of one of the forzathon events I had just completed happened to give me the 25,000 xp right after I joined the online adventure lol. Also people can find XP boards and those still count towards you total xp for the adventure.

This was really making me angry until a Club Member pointed out this can happen during F-Thon and such. I just wish it didn’t count towards the standings or the Adventure.

I don’t know what the Platinum Star player is. I have seen the Star rank, but thought maybe they cleared all 999 ranks by now.

Yeah. Mine wasn’t intentional either cause I didn’t know it would do that at the time. It was just the timing I had with the reward from that forzathon at the time lol.

the only jerks I encountered were a bunch of people in high HP vans blocking the road and ramming others in a B class race

I’ve encountered similar idiots in online freeroam a few times. Members of the same club using Ram Runner HEs and going around smashing into people at high speed.

Why are you reporting them?

For being quick or for not caring about achievements?

Platinum is possible without doing much in the way of achievements. Maybe they play online 16 hours a day, every day and are good at the game.

The other thing you describe is lag and if it happens to you often the lag may be your connection.

The lag you just described is the online connection not being able to keep up. It happens, usually Star players or very high rank have worked to tune their cars to their liking and are faster then most. Not all the time though, there are the drifters that go to the back and just drift to farm xp.

I’m reporting the ones I think are cheaters. Not everyone I lose a race to! I can’t post a pic here but I took a screenshot of one such player who went from +927,000 xp to -927,000 xp one race later. Never set of from the line but appeared in front of everyone from the back 95% into the race. Real good racer him huh…?

Genuine racers I enjoy competing with, and the genuine ones you can spot. They don’t lag out and glitch to the front of you. This is why I asked the wider community if they have experienced similar. Not to be questioned on my own ability

That is still lag related lol

I’ve had it quite a few times before where the game either pauses for a second mid race, or as you said the race seems to go into slow motion and then suddenly gains speed at least 3x realtime.

I found out that this was just my connection, when the connection is bad there’s almost no point in attempting to race online. I’m almost positive I’ve never seen a player cheat online, ever.

Sudden jumps in XP are normally from a combination of drifting at the back the entire race and then also completing a forzathon challenge. I unintentionally completed a forzathon challenge in S2 and by the end of the championship I had 109,000xp which is a lot from what I see.

Lag isn’t always lag you can indeed cheat using a lag button which was described in great detail one night when I was in a lobby in F4 so lag can indeed be a sign that someone in your lobby is cheating. I race loads although lately Forzathon is about the only thing that gets me on the track as to be quite honest H3 can be just plain boring and when you race the same gamer over different days and experience lag every time and the same gamer goes from last to first every time it happens you have to question if said gamer is cheating
My own personal bugbear is when the next start point is seconds away and offers less than 2,000 when you get there but suddenly some muppet who was languishing way behind you somehow scores over 50,000 points for the same journey and heads the leaderboard. Yes there are more cheats these days than in past games but sadly this is probably due to gamers playing on computers as interfering with how the game is played is much easier to do than on a console.

The 50,000 points is explainable but i get the impression people dont want their cheating accusations crushed.

Also if you have the same gamer at thevsame time each day lagging and winning it could be that their connection is garbage, or they are on the other side of the planet and they are quick.

Yes lag switch is a thing but cheating allegations are thrown around way too much.

I’ll be the Grinch, then. XD

‘Suspect’ XP gains are almost, always the result of either un-smashed XP boards from a given player’s single player campaign or XP bonuses from completing Forzathon challenges. Both count toward XP championships. While that may strike some as unsavory because there’s far less work involved than skill chains, both are one-time-only benefits. So one can pull a five-digit XP jump out of their behind only so many times before exhausting those opportunities.

Personally, I’ve found the majority of these board hunters to be beatable because they just end up padding weak XP draws in races. Even in the rare instance someone boards their way to a championship, it’s unlikely they’ll be able to do it again in the same region because they’ll have already burned most, if not all of their readily accessible lifelines.

What I do, if I crack a board or a ForzaThon reward during an Adventure–to be fair to the room, I stop trying as hard for a couple races. Not really ideal, but it’s much better to run with a room of 6+ people…just me though

The peculiarities of the system used to bother me. 800 levels later, I care more about having a semi-decent racing experience than winning the XP championship. Over time, I’ve learned that more often than not, good drivers will be in contention for the championship anyway, while bad drivers will be 20,000 XP back wondering what the secret is.

Hint: just because you can pass someone at a given junction doesn’t necessarily mean that you should. . .

I guess that’s a downside of having PC/XB1 cross play…

Lag switch has nothing to do with on which platform you are playing.

Ive come through countless racing games with countless cheaters b4 i’ve actively played here since October and i swear ive never seen a cheater online. In fact FH3’s implemented in-game anti-cheat system working so well there’s even no sign of cheaters on leaderboard except few glitched times caused by game itself or transmission bug abusing. The only cause of lagging screen in FH3 for me was only my internet. Nothing else.
