I wouldn’t say obscure. To give the developers or their contractors the benefit of the doubt, it’s probably rarer, but pretty much every game that has a Stagea usually has the Autech one. The Autech one is how I learned about the Stagea in general.
I had a look, of the games that actually feature the real deal and not a car based on one:
Gran Turismo (all except 3, Sport, 7) features both and more
Forza, Top Drives and “GT Pro Series” don’t have the Autech
Tokyo Extreme Racer and Wangan Midnight only ahve the Autech
The Autech Stagea has equipped with a 2.6 RB26DETT and it is only in 5-speed Manual. Unlike the other levels of Nissan Stagea in which the rest of them have RB25s, RB20s, and Automatic gearbox. It means it has shared powertrain with the ‘97 Skyline GT-R R33 only.
This should come within the future, considering the Stagea just arrived to FH5 but that’s the 25t RS Four V. Meanwhile, the RS Four S is Manual too.
The addition of the Stagea was unexpected and very cool. I think there is probably a way to replace it with an RB26. However, it’s sad that you can’t open the hood when you replace the engine. The same goes for the anti-lag turbocharger. PG would have been best off just adding the Autech 260RS. T10 and PG should send an investigation team to the Nissan Museum in Zama, Japan.
I personally don’t count Top Drives. It’s a basically a card game, and I question the legality of the images they use, because I doubt they’re licensed in the traditional sense, if they are licensed at all.
It is regrettable that it was the RS Four that was added, and not the 260RS. It can be simulated by swapping the engine, but the 260RS has different wheel offsets front and rear due to the relationship between the enlarged rear track width and the overall width. This cannot be reproduced with the RS Four.
