The early model was equipped with the RB26DETT. The later model was changed to the VQ30DETT. By implementing the engine change, you can enjoy the difference in weight balance between the I6 and V6.
It participated in the 2002 JGTC but unfortunately missed out on the champion.
It is also interesting to note that although the 2002 and 2003 models share the same base vehicle and have very similar color schemes, the silhouette changes considerably due to the different engines installed.
Midway through the 2002 season, Nissan / Nismo launched their new 2002 car, which was an interim solution to get them through the 2002 season, and put the new 3 liter VQ30DETT twin turbo V6 engine to the test.
The engine change was so the new shorter V6 engine could be placed alot further back than the long inline 6 RB26DETT layout, which forced most of the engine to be placed to far forward in the chassi, which meant to much weight on the front and to little weight on the rear axle, which meant that the RB26DETT powered cars always lacked the rear end traction of the other cars, since they could only run the GTR with rear wheel drive and without the 4 wheel steering system in the JGTC series due to the rules.
The 2003 car was heavily modified from the 2002 car, and almost everything was changed or modified, and the engine was further developed in 2003.
It all paid off as the R34 GTR won the championship in it`s final year of racing in the JGTC, since in 2004 the new 350Z was replacing the R34 GTR in the JGTC championship, retaining the 3 liter VQ30DETT engine from the GTR

What’s interesting about the 2002 model is that the internal structure is very different between the early and late models of the same model year. It would be interesting if both were reproduced in Forza and the user could choose between them.
The 2003 model was designed from the beginning to be optimized for the V6, which created a distinctive silhouette with a low front. It has been included in Forza Motorsport series in the past, so I hope it will be revived. Another reason I hope it will be revived is that it won the championship.
