sold as the 180SX, 200SX, Silvia, Gazelle, and other names, it’s rear drive, coupe or fastback
This model was originally intended to have a rotary engine, but it never materialized like many other cars at the time (like AMC Pacer, Chevy Monza, etc). The L20B engine was used at first then replaced by Z20 (4 cylinder engine with 8 spark plugs) and finally Z22E in North America. Other engines like L18, Z18 variants, FJ20E twin cam, and Z18ET (with turbo) were fitted in other markets.
This model with the FJ24 engine was called 240RS and was used by Nissan in WRC Rally competitions from 1983 to 1985 in the coupe body style.
Also featured in Seibu Keisatsu Japanese police drama as a one of one convertible, though ASC and other companies made coach-built convertibles, as was done with other similar cars like the Toyota Celica A60 as American rollover crash requirements had changed in the mid 70s. It would be later in the 80s before convertibles became prevalent again.
