New Project - S2000 UPDATED!

EDIT: Look a few posts down for the updated version

I enjoyed making my ADVAN CRX so I’m now making an S2000, it’s a decent bit more complex than my crx was so I imagine it will take me some time to complete.

I could also do with some help with regards to an effective bronze colour for wheels, I want to achieve a brushed bronze look like below but I’m finding it almost impossible to get right.

Thanks as always

Well, it sounds interesting and I can’t wait to see what becomes of it. I am sure the wheel color will come out okay. Keep up the good work.

Use the pink gold styling ive found that with a bit of a darker tiny to be close as I can get to bronze

Really looking forward to seeing this. Great work.

Thanks for the tip about wheels i’ll give that a go

I have been working on this although I completely started anew on a different original idea, I’ll do more work on it tonight and then post pictures, it’s taking forever but you will see why and understand I hope!

Ooh, I’m getting excited, I can’t wait to see what it is!

Right so update finally!

I had this idea when I was unable to sleep one night and well it turned into a bit of a bigger project than I was expecting as I gradually added more and more to it. Basically, I was going to do the AJ Racing S2000 before I decided I wasn’t actually that much of a fan of it (I might return to it later but who knows) but I liked how some of the stickers were truly metallic so I wanted to do something along those lines. I also wanted to use sponsors that are either rarely used or completely new to some people (with the exception of one which will be obvious immediately) and I also wanted to predominantly use British companies (although this has pretty much fallen away too (for various reasons!)).

So I decided that the intended ‘series’ would be the Britcar Endurance Series, I’ve yet to make up the number boards as I’ve been working on the rest of the car but they’ve pretty simple so wont take too long. So I set out with the intention of doing complex metallic pieces the first of which is shown below along with the sponsor ACT, why ACT? simple, the ACT flywheel on my real life MX-5 is a nice piece of kit so I like them and thought it would lend itself well to this project, have a look:

I could have picked another similar british make, AP Racing but… well, if you want to know why I didn’t then PM me!

Onto the bonnet, I decided a cam manufacturer would be something nice to go on the bonnet as it also leaves a good amount of space for the number board and misc. sponsors, I was going to go with Pipercams for the manufacturer but instead decided on Cat Cams just simply because their logo will look much nicer and has more to it.

I actually copied a genuine S2000 camshaft for this image although my one concern is that they appear to be a fairly mild cam as it’s difficult to see a pronounced ‘peak’ on the image, it also doesn’t help that VTEC cams inherently look different to normal cams! I’ll try to take a clearer image once the cat cams logo is on the bonnet though

Now onto the most ambitious part of the project, currently only the logo is present (again fully metallic) but if anyone knows what JENVEY are most famous for they will know what is going on the door panel, it’s going to take a very long time to get right I think and I might get close to quitting if I can’t get it looking ‘just so’ but I’ll do my best not to.

The misc. sponsors will likely include: Dunlop, Cobra, Quaife, OPIE Oils, Super Pro, Goodridge, ATL and then one last main sponsor to go on the rear (which again will come with MX-5 related backstory :-p )

and one last picture just for fun:

Oh, I’ll also be making sure the standard rear wing isn’t forgotten about for those which like to run that rather than the forza wing!

I appreciate there’s not much to see but let me know what you think as always.

Looking good mate! It’s a lengthy read but worth it. The S2K is looking really cool so far and I can’t wait to see what the end result is going to be. Keep up the great work.
