Maserati GranTurismo Folgore

As we are still waiting for the second-generation Tesla Roadster and the RImac Nevera/Pininfarina Battista are ludicrously expensive and could be considered hypercars, Maserati has delivered the first real electric sports car with the GranTurismo Folgore. As the same platform will also spawn an ICE version (with the new V6TT from the MC20), clever packaging means the electric componentry doesn’t reside under the floor like in most EVs, but rather under the bonnet, where the engine would be. The electric powertrain is actually more powerful than the V6TT in the MC20, developing 750 PS, making this the most powerful road-legal Maserati ever. The MC12 Corse that holds the overall record has just 5 PS more… According to Top Gear, the Folgore is one of the best-engineered Maseratis of recent times, and with no real rivals for sale (or even revealed yet), this could prove a much-needed stroke of success for the Italian brand.

I’ve updated this topic with polling for power type, keeping ICE and EV models together in the same voting topic given that they’re running on the same platform.

2023 Maserati GranTurismo Trofeo

At launch, the all-new GranTurismo is powered by a 3.0L twin-turbo Nettuno V6 engine derived from the MC20. In the Trofeo version, it produces 550hp of power and 650Nm of torque. With the 8-speed automatic gearbox and 4WD, a first for a Maserati grand tourer, it does 0-100kph in 3.5 seconds and flat out in 320kph, faster than the previous GranTurismo.

The Trofeo and Folgers models are the two cars to be added - the sportiest ICE version and the fastest EV version
