I was thinking about changing my gamertag, will this have any effect on leaderboard stats? I know in previous titles/games if you did change your gamertag your laptime would be erased OR your laptime would still be recorded under the old gamertag. Thanks for the help
Not in previous Forza titles.
Your GamerTag is just the string you’ve selected to associate with your (not-visible-to-anyone) Xbox account. Everything related to your account - profile information, gamerscore, achievements, friends, etc, etc, etc - remains part of your account, regardless of a change in your GamerTag.
So, no, it will not have any effect - other than it would then display your new GamerTag instead of your old one.

No, just like in other Forzas your lap time will be unchanged and simply relabled to your new name. I have changed my name numerous times on the old box and also last month. Lap times are still the same. The replay, however, seems to keep whatever your screenname was when that lap was ran. I noticed this with one of my teammates.
Agree with DE here. I changes my gamer tag during Forza 4, and the LBs always showed my current gamer tag.
on saved files however, (tunes and vinyls etc) the “created by” always read whatever my tag was when it saved. For example, if i saved a tune under PTG Claret, then changed my tag to PTG Blue, the saved file would still say created by PTG Claret. Not sure if this is still the case.
hope this helped
I changed mine during Forza 5 and had no issues at all.
Thanks
The only thing you will find if you switch the Gamertag is that until you better your ghosts with your new tag your name will show as the old tag about the car (Was racing a friend in rivals who changed his tag recently and got confused until I worked it out it was a pre change lap time as to why his tag was showing the old one)
The only way it will show your old tag is if you don’t log in. The second you log in with the changed tag to the game it changes everything over. If you never logged in again it would still display the old one.
