What makes you think that 8 would only have 1 year of development? If you don’t think a company like Turn 10 couldn’t work on 2 things at once you are quite nieve. If I remember correctly from years past, the next game is already in development Before the current game is released.
My oldest son plays at sport, he’ll watch me play fm7 and say ‘wish sport had that track…’ they have to keep adding tracks, didn’t have very many to begin with.
Distance is a physical constant (for practical purposes in this context). The time it takes to cross that distance varies with speed which itself inevitably varies.
All I know is that at least I got a reply from them to my query I sent Monday via email. Got the reply yesterday. So they do read mails and answers too if it is reasonable (I assume).
Not sure if it fixes my problem or is it even possible. But nevertheless, I got an answer.
Yep, duplicates aren’t exclusive to GT though. Even including that, some of the GT games had a gigantic amount of content, but it’s still only one part of a game.
No, but 5 - 10 different trim levels or special colors of the same Nissan Skyline R34 certainly is, no other game, including Forza has included that many of one particular car just with different trim levels and/or special packages.
I’m not counting NASCAR or Indycars in that argument, even if they should just be different livery options…
The reason we have all the different race car clones is to create more or less accurate grids, even if we currently have only two of each IndyCar and three of each NASCAR. When it comes to V8 Supercars, however, the argument is valid.
The reason Gran Turismo had all those different trims was to inflate the car list in times when resources were limited and to make enthusiasts think the game is “gearhead-friendly”. In Japan, all those trims may have meant something… To us, they’re all the same.
The game has had a rough life since launch, but they have been listening. Many of the things people have been upset about have been addressed. Just the fact that they decided not to work on FM8 and focus solely on FM7 says very positive things about the developers.
At this point I’m just waiting on Homologation options to be sorted out in a better way, and some sounds to be fixed. There is the stuttering issue as well, but at this point we all know that is a Windows 10 issue.
I believe there is a big difference between asking the general public for help & saying if you think you can do better, then by all means get in touch and apply for a job.
I also love the game and play it most days - I’ve not had many issues with the game since it started. Some of the things they have done, have had me scratching my head - but none of it has really detracted from my enjoyment of the game.
I’ve certainly had more than my money’s worth of entertainment from it and continue to do so. If T10 continue to improve the game and add content for free, good on them. I’ll take it and say thank you very much.
I think turn 10 are aware of what the community wants but as it has been said by turn 10 themselves things arent so easy to implement. I think turn 10 has been put in a strange position where as on one hand they are at the forefront of xbox ones marketing but on the other are constrained by some of microsofts directions.
Theres no doubt getting forza motorsport running 1080p@60fps on the xbox one and now running 4k@60fps on the one x are great achievements but imo these lofty benchmarks hurt the innovation of the franchise. Theres only so much time and resources available to produce these games that everything else plays second fiddle to the graphics.
Its pretty obvious to me that even though motorsport games seemingly have a 2 year development cycle its really 4 years. Forza 4 was the completion of forza 3, Forza 6 was the completion of forza 5 and forza 8 will be the completion of forza 7. The odd number games really do seem to form the base where as the even number games seem to have the polish added.
So imo forza and gran turismo do have similiar development times its just forza has much better interim games. I think forza 7 has layed the groundwork for a more successful forza 8 when it comes to content and performance for the most part. I think the next couple of years will be spent on putting that polish on the game and being able to work on other things besides graphics.
GT Sport was released as an extremely barebones e-sports experience. It’s not really a good reference for anything, really. The fact Kaz is given a free pass by Sony to do as he pleases does not mean his fans should do the same.
If GT Sport had been made by a studio like SMS, the game would’ve been absolutely destroyed by the sim community. Just look at how harshly Project CARS was criticized upon being released in a buggy state after having been delayed twice.
Heck, if there had been no Forza Motorsport in the current gen and Turn 10 had released something like FM5 in 2017, the backlash would have been even more than it was with the crates and neutered VIP bonuses.
Gt sport is kazs’ forza 5, it was a big risk to change the series’ direction but in the long run i think its paying off. But I do think people are looking at the updates gt sport receives a little too highly considering the lack of content at its release.
Forza 7 already has the content its just been lacking in the features that its competitors have already embraced when it comes to driver ratings and penalties. Obviously we know these features are in the pipeline i think its a good way to test these features out and see what works and what doesnt so forza 8 will launch with these things but as for benefiting forza 7 i think its a case of too little too late.
I think kaz as well as turn 10 deserve to be cut some slack from time to time because of how successful and influential both franchises have been over the years. Sms have to be commended for their high asperations but definitely have had major issues with the xbox one version of their game. But i think turn 10s problem is that while forza 6 did a lot to repair some of the damage forza 5 had on their image, forza 7s issues negated any progress made with 6 and for many people that slack that was given has been used up.
It’s a good reference on adding many tracks and cars free for everyone. It is way more robust than when it came out. There is no paid DLC in GT Sport as of yet. The bad part is they put cars you can just buy with ingame credits anyway on sale in the PS Store for real money. That’s not so good. Don’t even consider that Turn 10 please. Not cool. Now I do believe the forum would literally melt if that were to happen.
It was funny, because they introduced microtransactions almost at the same time Alan said they’d be removed from the Forza franchise entirely. And FM7’s crate sales weren’t even microtransactions.
Both lists in GT Sport are still pretty bad, considering much of what they’ve got is in other games already. The addition of Red Bull Ring is significant, but the track list still lacks many of the tracks I often drive in Forza.
