IROC style races

Expanding Forza Motorsports Racing Options: IROC-Style Races

Building on the success of NASCAR in Forza Motorsports, I’d like to propose an exciting new addition: IROC-style races featuring iconic cars from various eras.

IROC (International Race of Champions) was a legendary series that brought together top drivers from different racing disciplines to compete in identical cars. This format would translate perfectly to Forza Motorsports, offering a fresh and thrilling experience for players.

IROC CAR GENERATIONS

  • Porsche Carrera. 1973-74.
  • Chevrolet Camaro. 1974-76.
  • Chevrolet Camaro. 1977-80.
  • Chevrolet Camaro. 1984-89.
  • Dodge Daytona. 1990-93.
  • Dodge Avenger. 1994-95.
  • Pontiac Firebird. 1996-2006.

IROC race cars have raced at many tracks over the years, including:

  • Riverside International Raceway: The first three races of the inaugural IROC in 1973 were held here.
  • Daytona International Speedway: The final race of the inaugural IROC in 1974 was held on the road course. IROC races have also been held on the combined road course at Daytona.
  • Mid-Ohio: A twisting road course that has hosted IROC races.
  • Cleveland (Burke Lakefront Airport) CART series course: A flat road course that has hosted IROC races.
  • Talladega International Motor Speedway: A steeply banked tri-oval that has hosted IROC races.
  • Michigan International Speedway: A two-mile banked oval and road course that has hosted IROC races.
  • Indianapolis Motor Speedway: Has hosted IROC races.
  • Atlanta Speedway: Has hosted IROC races, including the 1978-79 series.

The IROC series has raced on a variety of tracks, including road courses and ovals. The IROC series has had different formats over the years, including:

  • 1973-1974: The inaugural IROC was held entirely on road courses.
  • 1992-2005: The IROC season was exclusively run on ovals.
  • 2006: Road courses were reintroduced to the IROC series.
  • 2024: IROC will return to Lime Rock Park for its first event in nearly 20 years.

Imagine racing a diverse range of IROC-inspired cars, from the 1970s to the present day, each with its unique characteristics and handling. This would not only provide more options for players seeking close racing action but also pay homage to the rich history of IROC racing.

What do you think? Would you be excited to see IROC-style races added to Forza Motorsports? Imagine having featured multiplayer races with these style cars? All these new games on the horizon, let forza be the first to represent these iconic cars, build our fan base back!
