ive been playing since pre release. ive run my virtual mic on every possible setting along with 2 different usb mics and nothing. nothing in convoy, adventure, team, freeroam. if its anything like FH3 my ticket will be ignored and they wont patch it for another 2 years.

I’ve been hearing nobody since the day it was launched too. I thought it was just that nobody was talking since I didn’t have a mic. Didn’t know this was an actual issue. Wow.

Same broken here on Windows 10, thought it was a settings issue on my end so searched for correct settings before logging on to play tonight., looks like will still have to fall back to 3rd party chat app for our convoy and no communication with randoms.

Pretty sad to have voice chat so broken in a “hang out” style game, very disappointing to have no response / conformation of the issue in over 2 weeks… AAA premium quality support :frowning:

Guess off to submit a ticket, sigh.

I submitted a ticket a week ago and I still have not received an answer. Unbelievable.

No singing, whistling, burping, screaming, dogs barking and etc. iritating things in online session. In convoy it is a problem, that players cant hear them but in open chat this silence is a miracle for me. I can finally focus on game, people are doing strange things with mic on other forza games
If this will be repaired add quick button to disable voice chat in race please.

I agree please add a mute all players option if you fix it. I don’t want to hear aspiring DJ’s.

Just add a “Push to Talk” button as well like most all other games do.

Oh, I am so very glad I’m not alone on this. I started the game for the first time a few months ago, went into online freeroam, and it was dead silent. After about 30 minutes I got to thinking “man, for a recently released game from a major franchise it sure is quiet.”

There was absolutely no chatter. Like you said, nobody playing Skrillex and scream-syncing, and no dogs barking in the background (lmao all the time though). I wondered if it was because I had the game chat muted or something. I checked the audio menu and… nope… not muted. Then I thought well maybe they just took out game chat entirely and replaced it with quickchat. (That was a much more plausible explanation than everyone being silent.)

It honestly does feel strange, though. Every time I enter a team adventure, right off the line of every race and not even a second in, nothing but a band of blaring Windows XP sounds and the sound of a thousand quick chat bubbles being popped all at once. It’s actually kind of refreshing. Instead of screaming and ramming, it’s just absolute mayhem from the starting line. A 10 car pile up with a limousine blocking everyone in while the first and second placers scurry off into the distance.

Thinking about it that way, I do quite enjoy it. But I’d still like the option of enabling in-game chat so we don’t have to convoy or party up with a bunch of random blokes from a random lobby.

Thanks everyone for your information and feedback regarding the issue.

We are aware of this and are currently looking into it.

Best way to chat to other players or your friends is most likely through Xbox Party Chat or through the Xbox App if you’re on PC.

Please make this a priority. we had to wait so so long on horizon 3 for the mic crash fix.

Don’t forget you can also submit a ticket here relating to any issues, bugs, suggestions & feedback.

Any news about this issue?

3 months have gone by without hearing a SINGLE online player. I see peoples mic lighting up but hear nothing. Also my Mic does not light up. This is absolutely unacceptable for a multiplayer game… And needs to be fixed. Voice chat is a core element of online gaming. And for it to be ignored for so long is pathetic.

Its actually been 4 months now. Idk if its going to be fixed any time soon. The pc player base doesn’t matter to the dev team and neither do racing game fans only casual gamers. This is looking like its going to be the last horizon game I will buy. Totally blown away how badly they messed up multiplayer. This is why you don’t pre order. The glowing reviews have to be paid for because multiplayer is absolute garbage. If the majority of people actually think multiplayer in its current state is great I don’t want to be a part of such a lame community anyway.

I disagree I’m on PC FH4 is extremely well-optimized for PC which means they put care into that which counts more than mic issues due to cross-platform. If the game had not been optimized well you’d hear constant whining but it is optimized well and you hear crickets except from a few of the media outlets that rightfully praise it. Much better than FH3 and deserving of good reviews as is the game as a whole (unless you only like MP events I hear there are some issue there, glad I don’t).

Well the xbox one is based on windows 10. They developed their console to share many similarities with a pc so that they could develop games for both systems easier. The amount of effort it takes to port a well optimized game from xbox one to windows is very little. Do you honestly think if nobody’s mic worked on Xbox One since release it still wouldn’t be patched today? Also the MP is the only thing that gives me any replay value. The single player gets old and boring. Playing against AI is stale and not entertaining to me. Thus since this games MP sux its a huge disappointment.

If it’s such an easy task to port the game then why is FH3 optimization inferior? The mic/audio is an obvious cross-platform issue that if easy to fix I’m sure would be fixed. It’s annoying to me as well. Only thing that works is party chat. They should at least put that in “known issues” of the release notes. I don’t play MP much there’s still a ton of cars I have not driven in the game. If MP is a priority than that does suck as I’ve heard there are issues with ranked rivals, adventure, etc. The playground games seasonals are all I’ve done and those were fun. Matchmaking was quick. Trial against unbeatable drivetars sucks as it seems to come down to luck with who is on your team but I don’t see how they can control that. Often if you get a few really good players you can help out folks who aren’t that great and win.

Well thats progress!!

the xbox app experience is soo poor and such a pain to get everybody joined
we need global text chat for all players in life

Looks like the voice chat is broken. I hate to promote using voice over IP but if some one wants to join I think TeamSpeak or Mumble are an alternative. The problem is the player has to be invited to channel and in order to do that I don’t see it feasible here. :frowning: btw it an excellent app to do races and the adventures but someone has to set it up and then invite their friends in and create the team. Cheers!
