I need recommendations...

Hi folks!

As it seems, there are currently no plans to make the OnlineEvents more enjoyable and rewarding a sense of accomplishment*, I’m in for recommendations - what game to take look at.
I tried NFS:Heat which is kinda horrible (all that camera shaking at the start? DoubleTapping will throw the car sidewars as if its on oil?!) and I’m rather lost regarding other games.

So, if anyone got some input for me, which games I could like and should give a try, I’ll gladly give them a try.

Thanks for your help

*examples as to what is actually draining the fun in online adventures includes but isn’t limited to…
…points in team adventures not being saved if one player left during the event (which usually doesnt happen if I’m on the losing team - but if we’re winning, people actually leave?!)
…car-resets after a flip despite being already down on all 4s and driving again (so you flipped once but 0.1s too long and are already driving? Too bad, here, a 5s penalty!)
…another car-reset after using the rewind function (e.g. if you already know you won’t come out unscathed and rewind to alter your course)
…unfair teams (5 unranked ones + me(league 10) against 4ppl league 5 and above + 2 leaque 8? Sure. Seems fair.)
…messed up FFA groupings - 3-5 people in league 3 and above, managing a solid 4th place (being in L6) and getting minus points as the rest of the field was unranked or in the blue leagues? (What did the game expect me to do? To win against several people a few leagues above me?!)
…driving against a fiel compromised of pink/blue leagues and unranked ones, being first and getting minues points? (COME ON. At least make it ±0 for the first place, but being first shouldn’t ever reward you with a deduction!
…it’s so easy pushing others outside of the checkpoint it’s ridiculous, be it by mistake or because the other drive has a rotten personality. (As you can’t change a players personality, it should be possible to pass on the checkpoint - if one player pushes another one outside the checkpoint, the car pushing one out should become “part of the checkpoint” and thus you’d clear the CP despite being rammed off.)
…ghosting and forced braking after a wall"tap" are as random as could be. "You hit the wall with you fill side whil doing 150 and still full on the accelarator? I got a fam, no worries, carry on! - “Oh, you barely tapped the wall with the tiniest polygon of your car doing 50 and actually braking? I can help you with that - here are 5 seconds actually slowing you down as much as a a whale tied to your car would!”

What kind of online experience are you looking for in a racing game?

Somewhat regulated environment? Then all games on the arcady side can be written off. On the simulation side there are some good games which are all better for online racing than the Forza franchise (GT Sport, iRacing, Assetto). The learning curve and skill gap can be enormous though.

On the arcady side we have NfS Heat which is trash. All cars are limited to the same top speed at max level and the 911 RSR kills everything. Also official support has been suspended. Game is dead.

The Crew 2 needs a lof of time to level your car classes and get the approriate perk sets. Without them you can’t win. There are also some artificial game mechanics that need to be learned like air-boosting.
A cool cruising and co-op game though.

GTA Online racing can be more thrilling and fun than what Horizon 4 offers. But you need the correct environment (racing crew), tons of money and in-depth knowledge of the game mechanics. The upfront skill gap is times higher than in Horizon. BUT I’ve never seen more competitive and entertaining arcade racing than in GTA Online since it launched. Maybe try a racing community “server” on PC like “project homecoming” where you don’t have to invest millions of GTA dollars to see if it fits you.

Wreckfest can be fun too but doesn’t offer much regarding longevity.

Ideally it would be something FH4 - with less bugs/shitty mechanics and a tad more active environment. I could live without the openworld mechanics (there isn’t really much to do anyways in FH4 apart from the few hours completing the PR stunts and Lego stuff)
Assetto is something I heard before, need to check out GT Sport and iRacing i guess.

Say whaaat? Official support is already suspended? Well, THAT was short lived.

TC2 was mentioned a few times in some articles - what are the acutal drawbacks apart from investing “some” time before being able to go competetive?
“Co-Op” on an online basis only or is actual co-op on one console?

First post is referring to FH4 (Post was moved from there)

Wreckfest.

The best casual racing game ive played in a long time. Against AI or humans, the unknowns for each event are exciting. Just don’t worry about first demolition derby race in lawnmower. Cars also seem to handle better with more upgrades.

The racing can be clean but is more similar to bump and run racing online. Personally, figure 8s against AI are a blast. I also liked the demolition derby races online.

The game is fairly short, but some of the achievements can take a while to complete. Probably similar in time to complete FH4 base game.

FH4 has a monopoly over this genre mostly because it’s the best of the rest. Other casual racers could be better, but either don’t have the budget or they are made by EA. Lol. The new Dirt game that is to be released seems very FH inspired based on trailers and may be worth following.
