Well, I can only go on my own personal experience so I apologise if it has been different to yours. Yes, I have played games that were extremely bugged but I don’t remember sitting down with my PS1 and PS2, playing and thinking “I don’t want to play this as it has too many bugs”. However, I again apologise for having a different experience and for apparently being an idiot and will refrain from commenting further
Some of the bugs are from FH4, and those bugs were easy to fix. Or for example the Blueprint editor was copy/pasted from FH4, so how did it lose its editing feature? How is copy/pasted code being damaged? Or the menu system in the Auction house using manufacturer in FH4, but not the other menus using the same code? The game has bugs where code has been used before… that shouldn’t happen.
We don’t see the new architecture. It’s complicated these times. It’s not Doom 1 done by one person. We are talking about hundreds of people. It’s too hard. Could be better? Sure, but it would be much more expensive, at least 10 times, probably more.
We had the code for Doom 1 at my old company, because we must have known the people that made it… lol, we all stopped working and just played it. Oh I just looked it up, and it was Shareware, that’s why we had the code.
In the xbox store FH4 had a rating of 4.8 from 5.
FH5 is on 3.5 and rapidly falling, few days ago it was on 3.7
(Probably isolated ratings per country, so assume it’s the rating from german players, any U.S. based player here to report the american store rating?)
Steam users seem to encounter less bugs. MC scores are easy to manipulate for fanboys or …***…, all you need to vote multiple are multiple mailadresses.
From my experience no game significantly below a rating of 4 with 3 digit figures raters in xb-store has been a “great game” so far.
However: I wouldn’t call customers on who’s sides the game is unplayable “drama queens”, even if they are not the majority. That’s a sort of arrogance and ignorance towards your customers that will backfire with time.
For me -on a veteran basic xb1- the bugs are in parts annoying, but not dramatic. I didn’t expect more, rather expect the sort of revolving bug-set-swapping with every update/hotfix as experienced in FH4.
More relevant to me is that in the essence the game is boring to me, because of the practically inexisting online-racing mode (Horizon Open is a joke to me/No user lobbies), the absence of an structured racing career in SP (such a simple thing to include) and the AI in solo races that provides everything but an immersive impression of actually racing against opponents (vs. moving computer generated objects unconnected to physics that I am bound to). I have not much usage for the overload of cars in my garage and yet can’t get fuzzed to tune them, since there are no exciting races to do with them then.
On rating that is an 2 (current bug state) and maybe a 4 when reasonably working.
Bit sad since I really love the new driving physics and how it has been adapted to the standard controller. But with my experience from FH4 I anyway didn’t expect much more.
T10 never learned how to programm a good AI and Horizon’s path away from racing towards some sort of Car Disneyland amusement parc started after FH1.
Have you red this thread? Game was compared to BF2042 and CP2077, OP thinks PGG should be sued and Mike Brown was casually called an idiot. Imo there’s a bit of drama queen bs going on. I don’t work for PGG, no one here is my customer and my point wasn’t that PGG should treat any customer in some certain way, but rather that objective metrics do not corroborate the story of that game being a broken mess universally and as such maybe it would make sense to review your attitude.
shows some nice bugs (missing geometry, ppl stuck at start but somehow racing, …) some ppl don’t care thats why game is rated mostly positive. Playing buggy games is normal for some ppl and corona is another reason not devs fault (oh and for lots of them it wasn’t their money :D)
And who knows how many ppl rated game positve and stopped playing after few hours/days… HOF shows lots of “abandoned” accounts
That same logic can also apply for the negative reviews. There are people on both sides here when it comes to reviews, positive reviews that are genuinely positive, postive reviews like in your example, negative reviews that are truly negative, as well as those that are the result of frustration from having to deal with the bugs and even those that are a result of user error.
Reviews are always subjective and should be looked at as such.
It is very clear from reading this forum and others that some people have had better experiences and/or are willing to deal with minor bugs than other people. I’ve had my share of bugs, nothing game breaking and mostly weird things and I’m not willing to just give up because I know it will get better.
I realize there are people with game breaking bugs and it seems to be mostly on the new consoles. Why would a patch break the game on one console and not another? Well, a few reasons, primarily a lack of testing, but it is also different architecture. The Dec 3 patch was roughly the same size across all platforms, iirc. Historically, the patches have been different sizes depending on the console, correct?
Xbox One had a smaller patch than One X for example.
A few days later the Series consoles had an additional 2.5 GB update. It sounds as if they pushed the same update to all platforms, which caused the issue with the Series consoles.
If the architecture and coding was the same it wouldn’t matter, but it does and testing should have caught this before became an issue.
Some of the bugs/exploits that are in FH5 which were already fixed in FH4 last year
Festival Playlist showing 1 reward to claim when there isn’t any.
People changing dates to obtain cars early without fear of getting banned in FH5.
Boneshaker was banned and is now again usable in online races in FH5
Driving distance not counting on rare occasions
and many more
So they forked FH5 from early FH4 build and did not merge the fixes FH4 received in it’s lifetime. So now they have to fix these issues again. Double work.
Some bugs like rewind stopping to work randomly are listed as “by design, won’t fix”
The whole situation is just one big LMAO. Anyway, I have thoroughly enjoyed the game so far and I hope they will fix most of these issues in 1-2 months and introduce new ways for us to play and keep coming back.
Sayin that this game maybe held to 0.5M players after a month, is probably way too generous (posted a bit about that in other thread).
Then while sitting and getting rained on in a car, with supposed to be functioning roof and windows (Ferrari 488 Pista), its obviously untested product (not to mention alphabetical list of problems going on for pages and thats just what they acknowledged - my friend had a good laugh, when he saw it).
So I try FH4. what do you know, I can actually sit in a same car in rain, without being rained on, so if 5 is a copy of 4, then somebody messed that one too.
Switch back with a thought I could try and tune a car or two … I start looking at those cars and think whats the point, I won’t play against stupidly designed drivatars, messy online, or tracks I don’t like … exit game.
Game is/was a simple cash grab and at this point I do feel sorry giving them my 100€.
Sorry Turtle, just because other games are potentially worse than Horizon 5, doesn’t make the mess that Horizon 5 is acceptable. This comparison is much like praising Moe for being the smartest of the three stooges. Futher, I still find it hard to believe that anyone keeps defending this terrible situation of companies releasing half finished beta versions of games full of bugs.
It may be a different time, but that doesn’t mean this practice is acceptable.
So… what about AMS2? Last ACC patch? PC2? DR2 broken servers? F1 save corruption? Most games are rather broken. H5 is perfect but currently has some issues. Core is is absolutely amazing.
The devs continue to listen to feedback, work on fixes and roll them out as soon as they can. All they ask is that you continue to use the support site if you have any problems as the more good info they have the easier it is to trace and fix problems. In the meantime they thank you for your patience and feedback.
