How big is the download for Ultimate Edition on Windows?

I just bought it coz the sale. The Ultimate Edition is “Downloading 137.9 GB of 137.9 GB” right now. And it keeps going! No slowing down!

Just how big is the download? The displayed download size is obviously BS coz otherwise it’d be done.

Update: Now at 149.5 GB of 149.5 GB. This is kind of retarded.

Likewise, I bought this on sale and I am at 127GB and still going. Judging by your comment it still has a way to go yet. So what was the final figure for the download?

This is a crazy situation - looks like I may have to download over 300GB on PC and Xbox One to play the game… Ridiculous.

Hi, yoyoML,

What did your download finish at?

Mine’s at 159GB already and still going. This is madness for a game!

Update: Now at 208GB and still going…

It should be about a 100. Mine worked fine about a week ago.

The downloads for all editions should be the same. The only difference is whether or not you can buy the DLC cars. I have it on PC for painting and it’s around 100GB. Not sure what’s happening with you guys or if the install files are messed up on the servers.

I’ve encountered this before on the windows store as well, the download never stops. A weird bug, Forza 7 is around 100gb.

189 n going strong is this A glitch ?

Mine said about 100 iirc so I figured it won’t be long and started late if the evening hoping to still have time to check it out. At about 300 gig I gave up and went to bed. Was installed in the morning so I have no idea how big the download was. Microsoft have never been good at estimating size and time. Even when copying or moving files lol.

Not sure how much it actually downloaded, but my friend on Xbox says his Forza 7 uses about 30GB less space on his hard drive than mine for WIndows. I’m assuming on Windows we’re forced to download the 4k textures, even if we’re unable to use them… I personally would like that 30GB of space back for other things if this is the case…

I’d like to know definitively what the download space requirements are too.

I have less than 150GB free so if it needs any more than that, it’s non-negotiable, it just won’t fit.

It is absurd that the store product page lists the system requirements in every aspect EXCEPT DISK SPACE NEEDED.

Windows says the game has 98.6 GB on my system

Yeah the question mark is over whether the Windows Store install method needs more than that though. People are talking of 150-200GB but it shrinks down to 100GB or less, only when it’s finished installing.

For me, that would mean I wouldn’t be able to download it.

I actually have over 300 gigs free in my machine but it’s spread over different drives, so not much use unless the Windows Store can see that and spread it around, which I highly doubt.

Am wary of buying it and finding it doesn’t fit, because MS don’t give refunds like say Steam or Origin would.

With all due respect to the developers and publishers, if they are going to produce games this big, they should clearly and unambiguously spell out the disk space needs to both download and install it.

Back when i first downloaded the game it loaded the 94 GB the game had, nothing more. I don’t know what it is that is causing never ending downloads for some, but if the download works correctly it shouldn’t exceed the games size, didn’t in my case, neither with Horizon 4.

Okay thanks, that sounds right. I guess worst case I’ll have to do some creative shuffling stuff around other drives… lol.
