So i just went through Horizon Open races and im thoroughly disgusted. So far worst multiplayer racing experience ever. Here is my experience in few points:
Ive went through one 5 race championship, which lasted almost 80 minutes. Not that the races were long, but between every race were 10-20 minutes long parts where you would just watch finish ladder, even though the race was long finished, followed by loading screen (for those who didnt restart their PC thinking the game has frozen) and another 10-20 look at starting roster. Honestly I pretty much lost last race because i fell asleep or into sound induced coma because:
During that time i was forced to listen to background noises of someone who was playing either from steam locomotive, toilet or combination of both, and constant incohorenent rant from either 10yo kid or some human/hamster hybrid, simply because apparently YOU CANNOT TURN OFF THE EFFIN VOICECHAT!!!
Its nice that high speed crash recognition and wall hit penalties made their triumphant return from FH4 and are exactly as broken as they were there. Thanks to that i had nice drop from 2 to last place after someone smashed me away completely from checkpoint with enough force that i did 2 barrel rolls, hit the wall and was subsequently penalized for hitting it after i reseted.
How could anyone think this might be improvement over older games is completely beyond me. Hopefully at least those between race moments will improve as soon as devs start the rest of the server, but so far ive got enough of multiplayer in this game and really hope it wont be part of seasons, because right now just the thought that ill have to go through this every week to get a car is enough to make me physically sick.
You know, even if it´s meant as mockery, i don´t mind. Honestly i had more fun writing this rant than during entirety of that Horizon Open Sh*tfest. And believe it or not, i actually forgot one point during that rant:
I joined in to championship where first race was already in progress. While that might sound good, in reality it means that i had to wait in empty world until they finished their race, their loadings (yes first 20 minutes gone) and it effectively means you have less chance to win, since you are missing points from that first race, unless you get double points for first race you join in.
I frankly love this game so far. Map is astounding, graphic is gorgeous, car choice and gameplay are simply excelent. All in all its really good game worth the money. Thats why it pisses me off that they would allow something like this to stain it.
