Horizon Backstage

Seems strange that the 1st Backstage pass is available at 50% season playlist reward for next playlist so earliest opportunity to get it will be in the Autumn season. By the information from the live stream theres a daily vote each day until all 6 slots are filled, so should take until the new playlist starts. But then what happens as if they do a weekly vote then 1 car will have to leave, presumably the Lotus Elise thats on their already.

Plus how many “passes” do you get for 50%? Just 1, so you can only choose 1 car out of 6 every 4 weeks?

To be honest Im not bothered about it as i’ve been playing for about 18 months so have multiples of each “rare” car and all POs so unless theres a PO on offer that cant be obtained via the AH I probably wouldn’t bother with the feature. Just asking for the newer players that might be keen to get the rare cars they have missed.

If people vote for cars like the 18 Civic, it’s because it’s the car they want. And if they want it, they want it for a reason. Even if you don’t agree with that reason. Just because it’s not what you would do doesn’t mean it’s automatically wrong. You do not represent the entire playerbase and your opinion isn’t magically worth more just because it’s yours. Get over yourself dude.

They said in the stream there were no plans to remove cars from backstage in the foreseeable future and that if they did end up being forced to for some reason, they would give us considerable advance notice. Daily votes throughout spring but once 28 starts they’ll switch to weekly votes so there should be 9 cars to choose from when people first get passes in autumn. Only one pass every 4 weeks but you’ll just have more and more to choose from each time, no worrying about missing one.

Hello everyone.

Sorry if this has already been asked, but how do you get access to the backstage pass? It tells I do not have enough backstage passes to get a car, but all I’ve done is vote. And every season is at least 80% completed. Im just very confused about this whole thing.

Thanks for any insight and responses.

Yeah, this is going to confuse people who are not well versed in the borderline-criminal UI that Turn10/Playground use for their menu system, especially (!) in Forza Horizon 4. Its a frickin overwhelming mess unless you’ve been navigating it for weeks or months.

Backstage Passes (currently since they are brand new) are won by completing 50% of the Monthly Series Forzathon Challenges.

Forzathon Primer:
Every 4 weeks (aka: Monthly) a new Forzathon SERIES starts up. I think its currently at 24 or 26 or something.
Each Monthly Series consists of 4 seasons, one season per week. Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring.
Each Weekly Season (Winter, Spring, etc) has a set of Challenges to complete. Completing these will win you wheel spins, free cars, or Forzathon Points by doing each challenge.

In Addition To This… each Weekly Season ALSO has a percentage goal…so if you do 50% of the weekly challenges, any of them, in any order…you win a specific 50% completed prize. If you push that up to 80% completion, you win a different prize along with the 50% Season prize. AKA: You win doing the events, you win more doing 50% of the events, you win even more if you do 80% of the events. 50% and 80% are the two tiers.

ALSO In Addition to This… There is also a SERIES (monthly) percentage goal. So if you complete 50% of the challenges for that SERIES (monthl), say you do 50% of Spring and then 25% of Summer and 25% of Fall), you win another prize…and then if you do 80% of the challenges/events in that Series (month), you win yet another prize. Seriously if you just show up weekly and do some simple tasks you wind up with a ton of exclusive junk and cash and forzathon points and so forth…

The Backstage Pass is currently listed as the prize you win if you complete 50% of the SERIES (the month). So you have 4 WEEKS (winter, spring, etc) to complete enough Seasonal events to hit 50%, and you win the backstage pass, and then you can choose a free car.

The current free car, which is the starting car, I think is a Lotus Elise. The voting we are doing this week will determine if next week they add the Porsche or the Ferrari to the backstage area. So that area, month to month, will have 1 new car added to it that you can get for free if you use your backstage pass.

I hope that makes sense…and…its brand new, so I hope I’m actually correct on this whitepaper I wrote here

Oh yeah, Forzathon Points that you earn are a special currency that can be used to buy a limited number of items from the Forzathon Shop…there are usually hard-to-obtain cars, clothes, whatever things in the forzathon shop and that changes each Season (week). Usually the cars are ones that are not available in the Autoshow, which just happens to be the same pool of cars that they are going to be offering in the Backstage Pass, so the Pass is just a different way for people to access that pool of rare/exclusive cars.

Collecting cars with a Backstage Pass isn’t available until Summer (Series 28) starts next week, which you can’t see in game right now because it only shows Series 27 seasons.

Once Summer starts you’ll be able to see the new seasonal rewards with the Backstage Pass. You can see what it will look like from the livestream video here:

My festival playlist is 76 percent and spring season is 51 percent. But i didn’t get any horizon backstage pass. Can someone help me pls?

This is more for late adopters.

Still, it only exists because nobody cares about the Playlist and PG needs to justify its existence…

You’re not wrong. But I don’t think that’s a bad thing necessarily. I was a late adopter to previous Horizon games, so I can certainly appreciate something like this, even if I personally have little to no use for it in Horizon 4.

…Neghhhh… maybe about 75-80% not wrong. I don’t have the numbers, but I get the sense that there’s still a few folks out there who might care about the playlist. But if many long time players are like me, they pop in on Thursday, maybe do one or two of their regular events, and grab the new exclusives, before going back to whatever else they were doing, whether in Horizon or elsewhere.

Still, it’ll be nice to have some control over whatever duplicate car we get saddled with. And who knows, maybe one of the 3 exclusives we don’t already have will pop up.

Yeah, a handful of people in the forum is enough to say people “still care” about the Playlist.

I still love the playlist! Thursday playlist is something I always look forward to. In FH5 I hope they keep it, but make the Ai more realistic.

I put an explainer post at the top of this thread. If more explanation is needed please let me know. I’ll update it with the daily vote results.

I love the playlist, but started late. I have everything I can but the pre orders and a couple of Top Gear cars now. Had I known about backstage I could have taken my time a bit more, though.

Just glad I wont have to mess around in the auction house if I were to miss a series for instance. If people are starting now it is a great deterrent to mess with the game and fund ebayers who exploit people’s desire to access cars they may have got the game for too.

Yeah, the playlist is a terrific feature. I don’t use it much now but I still do the trial when it’s not too dumbed down. It’s great for newer players to get to try new cars and still a chance for more experienced players to try some cars they don’t often use. I’m critical of PG over quite a lot of issues but can’t really see much wrong with the playlist.

Other than the backstage pass annoyingly having moved the “my cars” tab, I can’t see much wrong with this new idea either. Will be good to give players the choice of 6 exclusives which have been voted for.

Didn’t realize the backstage passes are monthly instead of weekly, really disappointing. Initially I thought this might be signs of the devs realizing the extent of the exclusive car problem and working to make them more widely available, but if its just one backstage pass per month and requiring 50% for the month, its more of the same sad playlist shenanigans trying to coerce players to log in and play more for their metrics, and to keep the payout rate of exclusive cars low for those on gamepass so they keep up their subscription.

Really hope FH5 does an about-face back to letting players actually enjoy cars, not stringing them along for profit and encouraging hackers/modders and a black market for arbitrarily rare vehicles.

I’ve been able to get every hard to find car without much trouble despite starting late July or early August. This makes things even quicker. Just hope as many others seem to that it gives access to those elusive pre order cars, but cool beans if nay.

Thankfully at the end of the day and in my experience there are no blacklisted cars that can’t be bought in the AH. I got some random ones like that VXR Vauxhall, the Levante, Merc 280 SL, Hooni V2 & Pontiac GTO etc for peanuts as well. Didn’t have to grind any playlist even though I would have been more than happy to.

I like that I’ll still be encouraged to try out new cars I otherwise would never have considered using and getting some really fun gameplay out of them.

The Hoonicorn won yesterday’s vote.

Voting on today’s pair ends at 7:20am Pacific October 18th:

  • Hot Wheels Ford Mustang
  • Hoonigan RS200

The forum is one of the least likely places for people to care, as there’s a lot of experienced players here. If people here are still interested in it, it probably suggests the majority of players still find it useful - especially the newer ones.

Interested to see how you can claim people don’t care about it without any evidence yet shoot someone down who, at the very least, has anecdotal evidence.

the Playlist is great

it gave a game without progression some sort of structure and a reason to play every week
and easier to earn cars without forced to open the wallet
