So we have rally car without rally tires and we are not even able to swap tires, so road version in focus 9 but it’s top speed it’s just way too low in road racing in s1 class. So do this car have any use outside of drifting?
Do you actually notice a difference between the two? I have them both tuned up to 900 and raced them on the first 3 minute and 30 second stretch of my rally course twice and I just about get near identical times. The older one does feel like you can slide around corners where the new road tire one has to take them normally, unless I’m crazy and its a visual error on the tires.
Weird because for me it’s feel totally opposite, in 55s lap i was abaout 1 second slower with new one and it’s feels like it’s slide all over the place and for me older one feels mutch balanced espially in winter. Maybe i give them a test in asphalt.
I tested in dirt first time also and i was then allready wondering how this feel worst than older version. In asphalt both hit 53,8s lap even tho new feels that it has more grip than older one.
The Focus 10 definitely feels grippier. Would love to have more options for tuning tire-wise. I like both 9 & 10, but use them primarily for Forzathon events. They’re the swiss army knife of 10-15 minute mixed challenges.
The new 10 skill tree is great - makes it a killer XP farmer as well. All the right boosts.
Shameless plug:
I have a well sorted tune and paint for the Focus 10 available for d/l. By all means, if you all use my paint and tune, you’ll be 1 louder than anyone else…and if 40 thousand or so of you download it, you’ll be helping to save the cuddly-eyed-orphan-fish from extinction. You’ll look good, feel good and be a real mensch.
^But what about “Snow Tires Fitted”? And there is a peformance difference between the Rallycross Tires and the normal off-road tires. The Rallycross tires feel looser off-road and harder to maintain revs through turns because of the lack of grip (The Rallycross tires remind me of the race tires offroad in general), just have a few go’s with the two Beetle GRC’s and now the two Gymkhana Focuses.
Edit: If the Rallycross Tires did have the same physics/grip values as the offroad tires then shouldn’t the Rallycross tires have the “Snow Tires Fitted” icon from a design and balance perspective. Or if Rallycross tires do actually have grip differences IRL then this whole post can be ignored.
Yeah it feel weird that if tires have identical stats but i have same feeling that yellow beetle and old version focus feels better and also clocked better times.
The difference is mostly on the snow … maybe these tyres are the same in summer spring and fall … but clearly there is a difference in winter … Rallycross tyres are not swaped for snow tyres … may it need a fix
