An awesome tutorial was very simple. I will be using this for other things also like making watch faces for my smart-watch except the only difference will be using photoshop instead of Xbox app
im working on making a Pandem Rocket Bunny wide body BRZ.
I use Macs too, one has bootcamp with Windows 10 installed (streaming doesn’t work via Parallels on this Mac). When I want to use the XBox in another room I start holding the “opt” key and select Windows - Apple hardware streaming Xbox, it’s awesome. Will cost you for a Windows licence though…
Thanks heaps to the OP for this post and sharing your knowledge, it’s a fantastic technique.
This is great. Way easier than FM2 days. Since I lost all the designs Ive done over the years Ive been kinda putoff trying to build them all again. This might get me in the paint booth again. I can already see the time savings.
I’m old school drawing since 1yr old at 3yrs Iwas drawing police cars.Studied Graphic design at college typography I could do freehand. Now this forza editor my knowledge of the shapes is key in keeping the layer count low. This software app. makes many complex designs easy to transfer to Forza.
This is amazing! I feel like this just pulled me out of the dark ages of having my laptop right next to my TV and trying to get it as close as possible. This actually guarantees the most accurate replica possible. +1 for the great idea!
The tricky and important part is how to stream footage from your Xbox to your computer with minimal input lag in between. Windows 10 has native support for this via the Xbox app but I don’t know what options there are for Mac.
I am not a computer guy so that goes way over my head. I have the adapter to hook my mac up to the tv i guess ill see if i can do anything through the settings. thanks for the response though.
PC isn’t an option for me and I suspect some others don’t have a PC they can do this on either. I would say the PC is better than this but here is something you can do on your phone to help you out.
Find a pic of the logo and save it.
Overlay a grid on to the logo. I use this site to put a grid on the logo: http://sporkforge.com/imaging/grid.php
Tips for the grid overlay, The size of your boxes depends on the resolution of the picture you found. Make sure you don’t make the boxes so small that there are more boxes on your grid than on the logo editor screen.
Start with a box that will be the size of the bigger boxes that are made of 4 x 4 small boxes in the game. Also, make this larger size grid divisible by 4. Save this grid picture, then make one where the boxes are smaller by dividing your original number by 4. Save this picture too. It can be tedious counting the little boxes as you make a logo so having one with the big boxes and small boxes can be helpful but the big boxes are optional really.
Now you place the shapes on the game’s grid so it matches up with the grid you placed on the logo on your phone.
More tips, start with the foreground. The letters and stuff. Then do the background. You can do the background first but you’re going to end up making the background have lower opacity while you work so you can see the grid while you are making the foreground. Might as well just start with the foreground.
Tried the ForzaColour webpage to try to get more accurate colours on this BMW “MPower” logo that I’m re-creating.
Loaded up the image in both Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer and can’t get the eyedropper to function.
The image is loading correctly, just can’t pick the colours on the image. The default in the box on the bottom of the screen is black… clicking anywhere on the image or rest of the screen does nothing to change that. Any suggestions?
How big is the image you’re uploading? If the vertical dimension is too high the eyedropper won’t align properly, preventing you from selecting accurate colours.
I grabbed a new (smaller) image and everything worked great. I think the colours are more accurate on this image that I’m working with now, which is a nice bonus.
Great thread, thanks for all the tips!
Drew a logo I really wanted to do, until my wife shut down my xbox in the living room while I was streaming it to my PC in my work room… oh well. Thank goodness it has auto-save. Cheers!
