The Peel P50 was sent to all players on January 1st as a Secret Santa gift. This car did not come with a special livery.

Okay, so I inadvertently gifted away the '16 Viper, because the thumbnail was still showing the default livery. So, I figured I could just replace it with one from the auction house. There are plenty listed, with buy out prices as low as 22K. The problem is, the auction house seems to be stripping the special livery, so the car arrives with the default livery. The livery designer is listed as “Stock”, even though the thumbnail displays the sweater livery. Is there no way to obtain this livery at this point?

This is true. Maybe check the auction house occasionally to see if they fix it. I would guess they had too many people use the remove and report livery and it’s automatically removed when listing the car. Just a theory.

Mine wasn’t stripped.
I bought another one for a test and then had two colourful Vipers in my garage.

But for a friend of mine (hence the test) even the gifted viper was standard white (and mine for him too, when we met on the road).

Both playing on XBox SX, both have the settings for “see livery of other players cars” set to on.
Looks like a minor bug.

cough have you forgotten who made this game? You cannot assume nonsensical things aren’t by design…a lot of things in this game that make no sense are by design so there’s no reason this one also isn’t

The thumbnails have been bugged for a long time, it’s a simple fix too… just re-paste the image, but they don’t fix it.

the upgrade trick doesn’t seem to work on the Viper… I also sold my gifted car by mistake as they both appeared the same in the auction dialogue… SO I bought another one that had the jumper livery from the Auction but cant get it to show on the car?

In an awesome turn of events…

I signed in today, went to message center, saw the message about the warthog gift car, clicked on it… item said dowloading. Exit out of menus, get the pop up message about new car in my collection, i hit X button to go to collection screen… screen goes to the section for AMG mechanics, but the spot for the warthog is empty. Car is not in my collection. Can’t find it under “change cars” when I’m out driving. Can’t find it if i visit my garage. I go back to message center, the gift message is gone. Ok, i try rebooting the game. Nope. Still not there.

A little while later, i get a notification of a gift from another player. I go collect it. Message pops up saying i have 2 new cars in collection. I thought “oh boy, maybe this new gift is triggering the warthog gift to work”. But no. When i click in to collection, it just shows the one I’ve just received from the other player. So it’s like my warthog gift car is stuck in limbo somewhere.

What do i do?

I checked auction house to see if anyone was selling theirs. But nope.

(Hilariously, i was finally able to collect my car pass fxx-k evo today. 2 days after it was supposed to be available)

So, just to be clear, it seems like there’s a misunderstanding here, caused by your “new car prompt” dropping you into the collections screen at the Warthog just by chance.

The free download car is not the Warthog. It is the 2016 Jeep Trailcat with Halo livery. See if that downloaded and note per the posting above that the livery probably won’t show in the preview thumbnail until you take steps to change the setup (go into Upgrades and select “restore original setup” works without costing anything, I had to do mine twice to make it stick).

And I happened to be DRIVING my Trailcat for the seasonal forzathon when I got the message, so if I got a 2nd Trailcat it would be less obvious since the 2 wouldn’t be displayed together (since 1 was my active car). Alright, I’ll check for a 2nd Trailcat when I get home from work today. Thanks for the info!

the thumbnail bug was already a bug in FH4 , then with FH5 they re in roduced the bug , with the auction house one.

I wouldn’t say that “s” word but definetly they are lazy. Cause they copy and paste bugs that where patched out of FH4 just to reappear in FH5. Like the not working shift paddles…

Seems they worked not with the FH4 data but with the FH3 engine…

Yup, I’m familiar with the thumbnail problem. Sold my first few gift livery cars in FH4 because I didn’t realize they were different. Had to go back and find copies on auction house. Eventually managed to get the ones I sold though.

Don’t remember if the problem was there in FH3, but I think I have all the gift livery cars in that one.

I think they displayed as they should right away in FH1 and FH2. I remember getting a lot of gift livery cars in those games. I also seem to remember the gift liveries used to be more… complicated? Had a subaru or something covered with puppies at one point?
