Gameplay - Cars lose upgrades when entering Class-restricted Private Multiplayer events (1823348)

Reporting an issue that I come across often when entering events that are restricted by class selection (for example, the class-based Open Series in Featured Multiplayer). This primarily happens in Private Multiplayer.

When selecting a car for a class-restricted event, some cars that you have upgraded beyond that class that are eligible when stock, get reverted to the stock build.

To illustrate an example:

  1. I have a Mazda MX-5 upgraded to top of C-Class

  2. I join Featured Multiplayer and enter the E-Class Open Series

  3. When I am prompted to select a car from my garage, the C-Class MX-5 has now had all of its upgrades removed and has reverted to E/287

Ideally, no upgrades should be taken off of any cars when attempting to enter a class-restricted event, and a prompt highlighting an ineligible car build should come after car selection.

With the way it functions now, I do not want to create or take part in Class-Based Private Multiplayer sessions, as I know them game will “break” several car builds I own.

@PJTierney
Does this issue still persist after recent updates? Would it be possible to provide a video of this in action?

I will check in the coming days and get back to you.

Even cars that can be de tuned they don’t show in the list of eligible cars. After leaving said multiplayer event the online multiplayer setup and tune stays and doesn’t go back to original the way it was setup before the event.

I wish also you could load your setup to the car for multiplayer so I don’t have to re setup a car again yea I know the tune is different and doesn’t meet restrictions but couldn’t it still load just the setup? Would save us time and allow us to get more practice in.

Hello @JetPartySalad, I have managed to replicate the issue in Private Multiplayer.

Here are a few clips:

  • This clip shows my garage, please pay attention to the 1997 Nissan Skyline GT-R (A/700) and the 1998 Nissan Silvia K’s Aero (B/600): PJTierney |  Xbox

  • This clip shows me setting up a Private Multiplayer session and managing to make those two cars lose their applied builds/tunes. The vehicle select thumbnail for both also reverts to stock even though the livery is still applied on both cars: PJTierney |  Xbox

I cannot replicate this issue in Featured Multiplayer at the moment (I have tried to).

I can replicate it in Private Multiplayer, with the method shown in the clip above.

Bug Info:
After a car has been upgraded, the upgrades are reverted to stock. I know the car has been reverted to stock because the car might have a livery, have been levelled up, I just built it and remembered, etc.

This usually doesn’t happen immediately, but you’ll find some cars at their stock PI when looking through your garage occasionally.

This may not happen frequently, or for all players. It could have to do with tune limit, garage size, profile size, or something along those lines, just guessing.

This seems to happen at random, not sure what triggers it but no usual fixes have had a solution.

Content Update:
This has happened since the beginning, but has been happening more frequently.

I Experience this too. Not sure what causes this too happen but seemed to start happening after I reached the tune save limit and started renaming autosaves to share.

Ive also experienced this, i have several cars in my garage that have been reverted back to stock. I know this because of the cars level and paint job.

Since this last update has come out, I’ve had MORE THAN A DOZEN cars get reset back to stock. Due to acquiring most vehicles near the start of the game’s life, autosave tunes are hit-or-miss as I’d already hit the 550 car limit, and quite a few vehicles have been removed due to lack of personal use, I have no capability of saving tunes on cars. Having to go back through a car to rebuild and try to retune when i’ve spent plenty of time working on the car is quite painful as I feel you should be able to race the cars you enjoy to race. I just tried joining 2 different online B-Class public hopper sessions and had 3 cars reset in the process because of this issue.

You’re welcome to check my account on the forums, I used to be a post-heavy member many years ago and logged back into my account on here WHAT SEEMS FROM THE DEAD to issue my concerns about this issue. This bug has moreorless destroyed my loyalty to the franchise.

whoa raceboy’s first post in ~18 months. must be a serious enough issue then.

would love to hear his experiences working with t10 during the development of this goty

Entered E Class Open Series in Featured Multiplayer last night.

At least 4 of my cars reverted to stock when I went to choose a car, including one that was in E already.

This issue is still present after Update 11.

We are closing out this issue. The developers have noted this issue as Fixed as of Update 12 on 9/9/24
