The game has just recently become on sale (50% off) and I’ve always wanted to experience a full motorsport game on my wheel setup and want to buy the game. The trouble is I’m worried about the size of the game on the hard disk. My home internet passed potato about a mile back and can only download about 7gb per night (from 9pm to 8am). I heard the game can be over 100gb when downloading the 4K assets, and assumed the PC version would download the 4K assets as most people have 4K monitors.
My two questions are:
Is there a way to disable the downloading of the 4K assets and only download the 1080p (or regular) assets on PC?
Is it worth waiting two weeks to download? (I am very reluctant to leaving my PC on overnight for extended periods of time - 11 to 12 hours especially for 2 weeks straight)
Have a similar problem. My xbox 1 x version took about 5 days solid download. (99Gb inc dlc)
Contemplating taking to my nephews place who has fibre optic and downloading it there…lol
Maybe take a external hdd or something to a friend with better download speed.
Now… first of all an important disclaimer: I’m still very new to the world of Forza, so take that into consideration with my comments. The reason I’m still responding is because it is installing as I write this (almost finished it seems) so I can clearly comment on what happened on my system just now.
Not to my knowledge. I got the ultimate edition (which includes a ton of stuff) but I noticed that you basically download one huge gamefile (FM7 of 99,18Gb) together with several smaller expansions. I’m pretty sure that the big gamefile consists of the entire game and everything in it, thus making me conclude that you can’t really customize the download. Heck: at best I could tell it to install to my D drive, but that was about it.
Expecting a non-biased answer about Forza on a Forza forum?
Once again: I’m very new here. I started playing Forza Horizon 4 yesterday and because of that experience picked up on Forza Motorsport 7 today. My take: FM7 is an ideal game if you like more traditional and classic races; so races which involve circuits, more in-depth tuning and a little more realism.
FH4 on the other hand is probably best enjoyed if you enjoy “races” no matter what (rallies, street races, city “circuit” races, dirt races, etc.) where the emphasis seems to be put more onto the whole experience of driving rather than providing a detailed simulation of an actual race.
So… is it worth it? I just spend downloading for several hours and well… I’d say yes But that doesn’t have to mean anything I suppose.
First question: what platform are you downloading FM7 on? (xbox one x, xbox one/s or PC) because both PC and xbox one x will download the 4K assets and I don’t need the 4K assets as i only have a 1080p monitor and upgrading is too expensive for me.
I’m not new to the whole Forza franchise (been playing since March 2017) but, I just feel as if leaving my computer on for the required 154 or so hours to download the game is wearing out my PC and causing detrimental effects to it (it was bloody expensive and I need the hardware to last a while).
I don’t want to have to download ideally more than 70gb for the game and a 100gb or so download size is a real off putting factor that will most likely stop me from investing the money, time and computer resources on the game.
As long as the PC was put together correctly and is sufficiently cooled, leaving it on for a big download shouldn’t be an issue.
I don’t know how FM7 handles it, but usually you don’t need to be playing in 4K to benefit from higher quality assets (4K just makes the difference more noticeable).
It’s relatable to me when I bought my Logitech G29 I was excited to play the game but the same happens to me that my internet sucks! I started downloaded the game somehow and after a couple of hours I shut down the PC!
Resume it after some time and successfully downloaded the game but the game crashes at a specific point! I googled it and check out whether I can run it or not and why Forza motorsport 7 is soo big! I bumped into this article and found out that it uses 4k 60FPS! Then I continuously downloaded the game for 2 days and played it couple of months, Still have on my PC and sometimes it worth a shot even Forza horizon 5 is gonna released!
