I CANNOT ACCESS THE SISTERON RACES IN THE CHAMPION’S ROADTRIP. PLEASE HELP ME. I drove to Sisteron and the map popped up as usual but no races appeared. Now i am stuck and cannot go any further. Any solutions guys?
So in a nut shell looks like FH2 will be the last xbox 360 game I buy. Of course im the rare person who bought a xbox for just Forza and Fable series since the next Fable will most likely be just xbox one and after the dishonest nature turn 10 took with the FH2 I will no longer need to spend money on xbox 360 games.
I hold a little hope that turn 10 may do something positive with this FH2 but I don’t see that happen so I will enjoy my PS4 and one day when xbox one is like 199.99 dollars ill buy it for the 2 games I play on there system. Hope all of you guys who feel cheated like I do by this game get some kind of refund or something to restore faith.
This was great to find out before buying the game. I won’t be buying the 360 version like I thought I would. I’ll wait and pick up the X1 version at a latter date when it drops in price.
Yeah that statement has been up for some time so don’t expect an update. While some of the missing things I can live without, this whole saga isn’t exactly making me run out to get a next gen console but instead has convinced me to wait. This isn’t my last 360 game but I will do much more research before ever investing in another Forza title. For all you preorderers and day one adoptees, you’ve seen how the last two launches have gone. Btw radio stations arent that big of a deal. We don’t need them as much as other more important features.
I agree, that’s why I have music on my hard drive.
As far as pre-orders go, I think most of us trusted what we thought we were getting. I know personally I did as much research as I could considering what very little info there was on the 360 version.
One point to reiterate…all you guys complaining about weather and not having certain cars (like open wheel cars) need to stop. We knew from the beginning (if you did your research) that those would not be available in our version, plain and simple. The issue at hand here is Turn 10 going back on their word about DLC after the game was released, the fact that they are not recognizing our loyalty to this series and denying us any rewards points (also found out after release…and in some cases after cashing them in unknowingly - like I did), and a few other things. Most people should know there are things that the 360 can’t handle that the One can. So let’s let those other complaints go once and for all.
In all honesty, Sumo probably delivered exactly the game they wanted to (excepting bugs and glitches). The problem here is that we were not informed of many of the game’s features (or lack of features) thanks to a pre-release campaign that purposefully avoided the Xbox 360 version at all costs.
I think that most of us are aware of the fact that there are (or may be) certain aspects that the X360 cannot handle, but no Vehicular DLCs? Look at H1, then come back to H2… Graphically, they are the same… And as for Console hardware… Cars do not take up that much space nor are they that demanding. Considering that it isn’t even Turn 10 that Developed the X360 version, we know that they did some final research and learned that they were not going to Turn as much of a profit if they only released the game on the XOne (Which I bet was the sole business plan of this game), so they sold an incomplete version of the game to the lowest bidder, whilst making sure that they saw a profit from the end result.
I keep music on my drive for the same reason, funny thing is it’s full of music from the first horizon!
I can’t say for sure as I am not a game developer, but is it possible that much of the “space” used in the game went towards being able to free roam instead of just keeping it to the roads? I’d imagine it would take up a ton of resources to be able to make the entire world open for driving on.
Couldn’t agree more. Of course we want the cars that XO has, but this isn’t a wish list thread. This is, like you said, about T10 going back AFTER launch, AFTER people bought H2 for X360 for DLC and rewards, to say “haha got your money! So get an XO to play the full game, or don’t but either way we get your money.”
To me they are! But I would expect in an update to fix patches (if there is any update), not gameplay features like tuning and radio stations - even though Ralph confirmed earlier they do have the technology to do that.
At first I was upset about being led to believe there would be DLC for the game and that turning out not to be true, for the most part I’m over that. What really grinds my gears right now is the lack of any response by the developers so far to the various complaints made by its players, the lack of a patch so far to fix invisible walls in roads and invisible holes in the ground the lesser quality of this game as compared to its prequel. Despite the shortcomings I still enjoy playing it and what really upsets me the most is that the game would be truly fantastic if they fixed these problems.
WHAT!!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE!!! why would you make a game for two counsels and completely abandon the one that obviously sold more copies and give up an opportunity to make more money off DLC’s. that is it I’am done with forza the crew it is I guess. and before anyone posts anything about the crew being bad at least thet have more than a paragraph of information on it before they release it, so goodbye forza
I still don’t get why T10/PG/Sumo decided not to add all 7 radio stations into the 360 version. Why would a company spend tons of money to get special licenses for these radio stations and only implement it in 1/2 or maybe even 1/3 of the sold games? It’s not like they’d have to pay for those licenses again, right? Or am i missing something here?
Also, the game needs an update. Now. Listen to us T10/PG/Sumo!
Licenses are normally per use; so because Horizon 2 is a separate entity on each console, they would likely have to pay for each song twice. Beyond that, disc space is limited. I hope most around here know that the difference between a DVD & a Blu-ray in terms of storage is substantial, the current maximum being 8GB for a dual layer DVD and 50GB for a dual layer Blu-ray.
Many of the differences between the 2 games are because of that limitation & not wanting to require a massive mandatory install. I don’t know why people are so focused on what’s technologically possible on the 360 hardware rather than the practical limitations of its disc format. Yes, the 360 user base is many times larger, but how many of those consoles have hard drives smaller than the 35.84GB that the Xbox One version requires? Wouldn’t larger numbers of people be more justifiably upset if their $50 game was unplayable without having to shell out for additional storage?
Everybody’s complaints about bugs, the lack of information available about the 360 version prior to release, and questionable decisions specifically pertaining to DLC are plenty valid, but we can reasonably assume that very little (if any) of the missing content was held back just to make the flagship version on the One stand out more. You may not agree with what made it on the disc, but there’s no arguing that it is full or very close to it (couldn’t find the exact size but Horizon 1 was 6.9GB).
I don’t write this to dissuade anyone from expressing their opinion, but I believe that if you want anything to change, you’d be better off focusing on what might realistically be achieved.
Most of us are very aware of the technical limitations of the 360 vs the One. No one thinks this game is going to run on 1080, or have drivatars or any of the advanced features of the X1 version. We just wanted a game as good or better than Horizon 1, and right now that is not the case.
I’m not capable of explaining the exact rationale for those decisions, but we can guess together if you like.
I haven’t played FH2 to know exactly how closed off it is, but I’m open to being educated if you could provide a link to a video showing it. Horizon 1 had very few truly unrestricted areas (the golf course being the only notable one) and breakable objects were plentiful but limited mostly to signs and other small roadside objects. Destructible fences and larger stuff like picnic tables only existed in a couple places and didn’t reveal any secrets or provide a purpose beyond maintaining skill chains/filling out the 1000 club. I do appreciate the life they seemed to give the environment though, and the dullness of H2 was one of my biggest concerns in the couple of comparisons I’ve already seen.
The 3 titles you mentioned are industry leaders that on Xbox 360 alone have sold anywhere from double (Battlefield 4) to 10 times (GTA V) what Horizon 1 sold to date. The greater demand for the experiences they provide gives them greater leeway in terms of what they can ask in return from consumers.
Demographics would obviously indicate as well that a large portion of Horizon 2 players will be younger/more casual gamers than those purchasing titles not rated E. Excluding of course those hardcore racers with wheels, etc. - I’d assume the audience skews very young indeed (in my limited personal experience there is more crossover between Minecraft & Forza Horizon than any other 2 games). These are gamers who often aren’t even spending their own money, which means a much higher percentage of consoles with the 4GB HDD, much lower awareness of things like Forza rewards, and lower take rate for DLC. They can be courted effectively with cross-platform marketing & don’t ask for much once they have the game.
Among the truly hardcore (gamers in general or Forza fans specifically) buying the newer hardware was a foregone conclusion. The Horizon 2 “Realistic Photo” thread has more pages than this one & the “Redeemed rewards not showing up” thread has nearly as many, so despite the oft-cited massive 360 user base as a factor that should weigh heavily in these matters, there is little indication that even where awareness is at it’s highest, the largest active segment of the community is dissatisfied 360 users. We can be safely ignored because the vast majority of Horizon 2 players will be kids getting the game as a gift this Christmas, who won’t perceive or care about it’s flaws or lack of support.
Fair enough. As good or better is subjective though, and it must be numbing for anyone who cares to read through so many pages of complaints that rarely acknowledge the game as a separate entity from its more advanced cousin, or that what it does achieve may factor into its shortcomings elsewhere. This isn’t just a re-skinned Colorado; it’s a unique, larger world. In fact, as hugonaaijkens99 revealed to me, it’s a game created with nearly twice as much data as the first Horizon.
Can nobody understand why compromises had to made given that information? I’m not suggesting anyone should like those compromises, just that there can be valid reasons for them that don’t represent either nefarious intent or abject failure.
As far as my own purchasing decision goes, it’s been strongly influenced by what I’ve seen here. I’m not likely to buy an Xbox One anytime soon, or buy Horizon 2 just to have a larger, if perhaps less engaging place to drive around & take photos in. Lagging behind my peers is not going to get me to compromise my personal ethics & I do think it’s important to call companies to task for consumer-unfriendly practices. I’m just not as convinced as it seems others are that there has been a deliberate attempt to make this game worse than it could have been.
That its a separate entity from the X1 version is implied for me. I wouldn’t accuse anyone of a deliberate effort to make what some people feel is an incomplete game, however I do think parameters were set and I would imagine the developers of the game did the best they could within the parameters that were laid before them. It seems to me that sacrifices were made to try to make this 360 version as close as possible to the X1 version. I think that was the mistake. Instead of making the 360 version an extension of Forza Horizon 1, they tried to make it an extension of the X1 version of Forza Horizon 2.
FH1 may have only been no more than 8GB, but ALMOST everything on that game was destructible and ALMOST the whole map remained open for use… So why has FH2 gone back in time and Made practically everything closed off or static? And there are those who have Rockstar’s GTA V, Infinity Ward’s CoD Ghosts or EA’s/Dice’s Battlefield 4, and they are just as happy to have TWO discs to install all the missing content from the “Play” disc.
And just remember that Installation files are usually Compressed into a single file that expands and makes the game what it is, which is why the Disc may only have 8GB storage and Advance to about 10-15GB.
