Ford Crown Victoria Choices

So as happy as I am to see the Crown Vic in the game, I can’t help but wonder why they made a couple of the choices for it. Such as the lights for example, Am I mistaken in thinking that that is the least popular style of light that any police force uses? As opposed to something more like this

Yeah I know it’s a Canadian cop car, but I’m Canadian and this is what I think of, sue me. But From what I can tell, isn’t this also the most popular style in the US too? Correct me if I’m wrong.
Another decision I can’t quite wrap my head around is the wing upgrade. Forza is pretty much binary with which wing is available, big race wing, or little ducktail spoiler. So I have to wonder why they decided the oversize wing that I personally believe just looks silly, rather than the usual muscle car lip, heck, or even the spoiler from the Mercury Marauder?
Vic Spoiler
I don’t know, what do you guys think? Am I just being too Picky?

Agreed. I was hoping for a few lightbar and even pushbar choices. It would be nice if you could change the lights on or off, or even change flash patterns. I can even envision a siren option in the horn category. Maybe they could even add the lights to the new Charger, many police forces are moving to those.

Yeah, sure any car can have lights added to look like a police cars, but why not add them to the rest of the cars that have, and are actually being used as police cars, like the Charger, and Falcon? (All I could think of off the top of my head) especially now that we know there’s a working flashing light mechanic

I thought the same thing. “I have a police cruiser from 2010, why do I have a light bar from 1973?”

I don’t even think I have ever even seen a real life example of the one in the game. Mostly I’ve seen the low profile ones, like in the first post, and a swept back “V” style, with aerodynamic light domes.

For some reason I suspect it’s just a purposely odd generic design, possibly to avoid licensing issues with the manufacturers of the real lights.

Here’s the swept back kind I’m thinking of:

Pack came out today, first time we get a legit police car with light bar, push bars, the whole shebang, and instead of having a blast with it on FH3 the complaints begin already?

The choices probably came down to either licensing & legal issues or availability of car to scan. Seeing as how widespread these things are, I’m sure it’s the former.

I’m having a blast with it AND complaining about the outdated lightbar.

Multitasking rules

This is the kind of stuff that really makes me hate this forum, As I come here overall happy about the situation, share the fact that it seems a little funny, and I get a rather well respected member of the community bashing on me for simply sharing an opinion.
So what if it’s the first time? I had an opinion that I thought a lot of people would share, and clearly they do, so why be such a jerk about it, as jerk is about the most risque think you’re allowed to call someone here.

And yeah, the more I realize how unlikely it is they’ll make any changes to it, I can’t think of any examples of T10 doing that since I’ve been playing the franchise.

It also goes with the fact that the lights on top are outdated, but not incorrect - these were likely ones showcased when the car was being put into game.

The light bar in game is typically the lowest budget option, now-a-days utilized by security companies and small lo budget requirements. They’re also bad on high speed aerodynamic drag. The Auto Manu’s don’t build the police demo cars with outdated lights. But honestly even the hookie security firm I moonlighted with had full width light bars and full lightbars come with many options so they’re just as affordable. Now my first Crown Vic patrol car, had a big square Federal bar, it was basically this type of light bar built to be one enclosed unit… I was gigigidy when I reported for shift and told to head over to the shops to get the Jetsonic bar put on… I spent half the night out in the fringes of the precinct playing with the sirens and lights… When we switched to the more aerodynamic lights it saved an avg of avg 2gal of gas per week for each car that adds up when the dept has 600+ vehicles…

Hmmm. Wasn’t complaining, but I am having fun.

I guess I suck at multitasking. I’ll try harder next time.

This thread made me think of a classic movie, the blues brothers.

Remember this?
Joliet" Jake and Elwood Blues are driving in the new Bluesmobile, a former police car.]
“Joliet” Jake Blues: What’s this?
Elwood Blues: What?
“Joliet” Jake Blues: This car. This stupid car. Where’s the Cadillac?
[He tries the cigarette lighter, finds it doesn’t work, and throws it out the window.]
“Joliet” Jake Blues: The Caddy, where’s the Caddy?
Elwood Blues: The what?
“Joliet” Jake Blues: The Cadillac we used to have. The Bluesmobile.
Elwood Blues: I traded it.
“Joliet” Jake Blues: You traded the Bluesmobile for this?
Elwood Blues: No, for a microphone.
“Joliet” Jake Blues: A microphone? Okay, I can see that. But what the hell is this?
Elwood Blues: This was a bargain. I picked it up at the Mount Prospect City police auction last spring. It’s an old Mount Prospect police car. They were practically giving them away.
“Joliet” Jake Blues: Well, thank you, pal. The day I get out of prison, my own brother picks me up in a police car.
[Fog horn and warning bell sounds.]
Elwood Blues: You don’t like it?
“Joliet” Jake Blues: No, I don’t like it.
[Elwood jumps the car over an opening drawbridge.]
“Joliet” Jake Blues: Car’s got a lot of pickup.
Elwood Blues: It’s got a cop motor, a four hundred and forty cubic inch plant. It’s got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It’s a model made before catalytic converters, so it’ll run good on regular gas. What do you say? Is it the new Bluesmobile or what?
[Jake lights a cigarette using his own lighter.]
“Joliet” Jake Blues: Fix the cigarette lighter.

I would have preferred a more modern looking light bar. But I imagine they didn’t want to spend the time making a bunch of new options for the one police car in the game. Maybe we can hope one of the expansions will include a few police cars. There are lots of ways they could be fun in multiplayer games and career modes.

I’m all for more content, but this cop car business seems like a plot to get even more people to randomly run into me in free roam. And the last thing I want to see when I’m doing 4 times the speed limit is flashing lights.

Mark wins 10,000 B Wald points. I believe that movie (from 1980) still holds the record for the most police cars wrecked in a single car chase.

Now I want a 1974 Dodge Monaco in the game, thanks Mark

Fantastic Job! I have been lovin’ H3, but the inclusion of a classic rear wheel drive police cruiser is awesome! I’d love to see a 1990 Chevrolet Caprice/Impala police package…
Maybe Playground could work on some game play scenarios, traffic and maybe 2 teams games, the baddies doin’ the deeds and coppers trying to take 'em down kinda thing…

The lights are perplexing though, building them digitally like the cars are, would require more parts than a standard full width light bar… but really who cares… it’s here!

Wheres the siren T10? lol

Companies that work in the defense/law enforcement field tend to be quite aggressive in their lawsuits. Maybe they went for the option that was less likely to get them sued? Although this is as good a guess as any.
