Finally gave the hoppers a shot again last night, question about blocking players

I gave the public lobbies a shot last night for the first time in several months. Right off the bat I found a great A class lobby, had 6 or 7 really fun races in it until I had to jump off for a while. When I came back I was in lobby after lobby of griefers. I know how to report and block the jerks, but with the lack of options on my HUD to be able to identify who the griefers actually are, it was pretty hard.

In previous Forza’s we’ve had the option to have a list of the players who are near you on the HUD. Also, in the end of race results we used to be able to see what the primary color of the car each player was driving was. Without either of these options available anymore (hint hint it sure would be nice to have them back!), how do you go about identifying who the troublemakers actually were? Usually when they dive bomb you going into a corner at 10x your speed, I can’t catch their gamertag, and I’d much rather try to get back on track quickly to catch up rather than turn around and try to see their gamertag. After the race, I know that the griefers are going to be close to the back of the pack, but I really don’t want to block and report clean racers who happen to be slower than me by mistake.

So, I guess my question is how do you go about identifying the guilty parties, without blocking and reporting the innocent?

Thanks,
Peter

Its a little bit of a guessing game but the most efficient way is to remember the car, the at the end of the race they are more than likely going to be able to pin point them at the bottom, Obviously this isnt going to be effective if the whole lobby is running lets say Astons …

When you look back to see who is coming up to overtake you, clock the gamertag incase of an incident, or use “Xbox Record That” and see if that shows up the guilty party

At the end of the race you can save the replay so you can go back and review the whole race.

Did not think of that one !! although … with the amount of incidents in public lobbies, you could run out of replay save slots within a gaming session lol

True enough. I race in cockpit view and like to go back and review things just to get a better idea of what happened and it filled up quick. Just have to keep deleting old replays. But definitely watch the replays before reporting. It’s easy to get frustrated during a race and hit that report button. When you go back and watch the replay you will be surprised how many times people get spun out because they just turned into a car that had the inside line etc, and it wasn’t really the wreckers fault

This is so very true Opie. I got mad at a guy that took me out three races in a row. Luckily i never retaliated and went back and watched them. He did take me out but he had alot of help from an Audi that was behind him pushing lol.

I guess recording is the best option. I’ve played online since FM3, and have never had such a hard time identifying the offenders, and they sure can take any fun out of the public lobbies really quickly.

I TRY to ignore the incidental contact / racing incidents, it’s the 180 mph into a hairpin style dive bombers, and the waiting at the start/finish line jerks that really get under my skin, and that have kept me out of the lobbies for the last couple of months. While I’ve certainly had some good lobbies, I feel like the proportion of lobbies with jerks in them is much higher in FM5 than any of the previous releases, and the vote to kick option works even more poorly than previous titles as well, making the public lobbies a much less inviting atmosphere than they used to be (who’d of thunk that was possible!).

Yep I agree the first lap is always disaster avoidance, as much as I gripe about being always started at the back it is kinda a blessing in disguise cause 90% of the time I can pick my way through. I must admit I get annoyed at people purposely cutting across me and cutting me off and I will hit back, if they want to play dirty then I will, I prefer to race clean and after the idiots are out of the way you normally find quite a clean race

So, if we correctly identify the offenders and block them we will be left with between 300 and 500 people to race with. With millions of copies sold this small pool is depressing. No collision hoppers is a good small step, but to really generate interest we need races that count for something. T10 needs to sponsor events with real prizes in the balance (t-shirts, avatars, key chains…anything! to add meaning). I would like to se a “Death Threshold” for damage. you take too much damage and you “die” on the track and are out of the race (a full gore option would be nice to view these deaths!). Just dreaming.

Where did you get those numbers?

Save the Replay right after the race, then in-game, on the gamertags you spot wrecking people, go into VIEW GAMER CARD, then Report or block, followed by Report, then select Unsporting behavior. There is then a box to fill in “CRASHER” - disruptive in races, causes wrecks, etc. Followed by Report to Xbox.

Those reports go to Xbox LIVE’s system, and rate those people down in the games. Have others in the races do the same, but don’t mention it during the races.

Report them, Block them. Help eliminate them.

Try running a no collisions lobby. It’s pretty fun and a good test of consistency. Abcs is usually pretty good too.
